(LAKE FOREST, Illinois) – Deerpath Golf Course has been recognized as a Top 50 Public Range as part of the 2021 Golf Range Association of America (GRAA) Awards. This marks the first time Deerpath has been honored with this award.
“It is an honor to have Deerpath Golf Course recognized for its commitment to providing a premier practice facility,” said Director of Parks, Recreation, and Forestry at The City of Lake Forest, Sally Swarthout. “This award recognizes Deerpath Golf Course and our city’s commitment to bringing residents and community members together through the game of golf.”
“We are proud to join other premier public golf facilities on this list of top public ranges,” said Patrick O’Donoghue, general manager at Deerpath. “With the addition of The Lawn to our practice facility, we are excited to continue inspiring the local community to learn the game of golf and refine their skills.”
The Deerpath Golf Course driving range features a beautifully kept grass tee hitting area with target greens to simulate on-course shot making. The facility broke ground on The Lawn in July 2021 and is slated to open in July 2022. The Lawn covers more than 30,000 square feet, consisting of a world-class bentgrass putting and chipping experience providing practice options for both novice and avid players alike. The Lawn’s impressive footprint will offer an 18-hole putting course and three-hole chipping course and is surrounded by a 15-foot chipping fairway surface and synthetic practice tee stations. Deerpath Golf Course will be one of the only municipally owned facilities to feature such a world-class amenity, making the course a destination for golfers across the Chicagoland area and beyond.
Every year the GRAA honors the top 50 ranges and practice facilities that cater to the public golfer, the private facilities that serve an exclusive membership, and those that offer a stand-alone experience. Criteria for the top 50 looks at each facility’s amenities and services, technology integration, clinics and workshops, revenue and more.
