Twin Warriors Golf Club Will Host 2022 Women’s PGA Cup

Women PGA Club Professionals Play For Their Countries in Biennial Team Event

(PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla.) – The PGA of America announced today that Twin Warriors Golf Club at Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort and Spa in Santa Ana Pueblo, New Mexico, will host the 2022 Women’s PGA Cupーthe premier international competition for women PGA Club ProfessionalsーOctober 24-29, 2022.

The Women’s PGA Cup is not played for prize money; rather, teams  vie for bragging rights and the honor of winning the Cup. Win or lose, all teams will bask in the pride that comes with representing one’s country in a distinct and unique competition.

Twin Warriors Golf Club, designed by Gary Panks and opened in 2001, plays through the high desert, and is routed in and around 20 ancient cultural sites. Other features include beautiful grassy knolls, ridges dotted with Juniper and Pinon Pine, dry washes (arroyos) and eroded land features, along with the sacred butte known as Tuyuna or "Snakehead," all framed by spectacular views of the Sandia Mountains.

The United States team won the inaugural Women’s PGA Cup by four shots in October 2019 at the Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa/Foothills Course in Austin, Texas.

“We’re very excited to welcome the top women’s golf Professionals from around the globe to Twin Warriors and the beautiful state of New Mexico,” said PGA of America President Jim Richerson. “The inaugural Women’s PGA Cup in 2019 was well-received globally and the tight margin of victory enjoyed by the U.S. Team showed the women’s game is rich in international talent, especially at the professional level.”

The inaugural Women’s PGA Cup attracted five-member teams from Australia, Canada, Great Britain & Ireland, Sweden and the United States.

These five PGA Associations shared a vision and mindset that the Women’s PGA Cup can serve as a catalyst to grow golf internationally and promote the role of the female professionals within it.

Each national team will again be composed of five players and one Captain. Each country has the option of allowing its Captain to compete, as well. Each team’s lowest three scores will be counted after each round and the victorious country will have the lowest 54-hole aggregate total.

Those eligible to represent their country in the Women’s PGA Cup must be Members in good standing with their respective Professional Golfers Association (PGA). They also must be active in the game, be it as a teacher, coach or working as Club Professional/Assistant. Tour professionals who primarily compete for a living are not eligible to participate.

Twin Warriors has hosted a variety of notable events and tournaments, including the PGA Professional Championship in 2003 and 2009.

“We are honored to be hosting the Women’s PGA Cup at Twin Warriors Golf Club next October,” said Derek Gutierrez, PGA General Manager/Director of Golf at Santa Ana Golf Club, Inc. “As a two-time past host of the PGA Professional Championship, we are confident Twin Warriors will offer the same challenging test of golf for women PGA Professionals representing their countries in this international competition. To pair the 2022 Women’s Cup with the historic Santa Ana Pueblo and Twin Warriors Golf Club is certain to create excitement, drama and history.”
