South Carolina’s Mountains-to-Midlands Region Featured in October Episode of Traveling Golfer

(PHILADELPHIA, Pa.) – South Carolina is one of the most famous golf states in America. From Hilton Head Island in the south, through Kiawah, Charleston and Myrtle Beach … and all the way to the North Carolina border, the state is a treasure trove of golf riches.

What many people do not know is that the western portion of the state also possesses some of the finest – and most affordable – public golf in the region.

South Carolina’s Mountains-to-Midlands region will no longer be a best-kept secret after it is featured in the October episode of the Traveling Golfer television show.

From the charming town of Aiken in the far south, through the capital city of Columbia, traveling north through Greenville, Clemson and into the Rock Hill area that touches the North Carolina border, the Mountains-to-Midlands region satisfies the needs of all golfers.

A dozen golf courses – of just about every variety – are covered in this ambitious episode of the Traveling Golfer. Add all of the attractions along the way and it becomes clear that this show is a travelogue of epic proportions.

“We logged more miles and visited more courses than we have on any previous show,” reported Tony Leodora, host of the Traveling Golfer television show. “There is just so much to see and do along this trek through the western part of South Carolina.

“And there was so much to debut for the golfers. The quality and affordability of the golf in this region is something that needed to be conveyed to our viewers.”

Ricky Saucier is the president of Golf Packages of South Carolina, the company that has been building golf tourism in the Mountains-to-Midlands region (www.m2mgolfsc.com) in recent years. He has helped unlock the region to many first-time visitors.

“When people think of golf in South Carolina, they first think of the coast,” said Saucier. “But there is a great variety of golf to be found in the higher elevations. And the beauty of it is … as the elevation goes up, the costs go down. This show really highlights the quality and value of the golf throughout the area.”

The October episode runs throughout the month on the Traveling Golfer network of websites ... including The Golf Director Network (see full list of sites on travelinggolfervideo.com). It also will air a number of times in the Month of October on “Rivertalk” on HTC-4 in Myrtle Beach. The Traveling Golfer also airs as a scheduled weekly feature show on NBC Sports and NBC Sports + throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. NBC Sports airings are 10:30 a.m. Sundays, 11 p.m. on Tuesdays and 11 a.m. Thursdays. NBC Sports + airs the show at 6 p.m. Mondays and Fridays.

As part of every Traveling Golfer show there is the additional feature, "Tech Talk", hosted by Tour Edge Golf experts, such as President Dave Glod. With years of experience as a club maker, Glod presents an inside look at the research and development of high-quality golf equipment.

Responding to golfers' never-ending demands to learn more about interesting golf courses and golf resorts across the country and around the world, well-traveled host Tony Leodora created the Traveling Golfer so he could take viewers on video trips to some of the most exciting golf locations. The show repeated for an unprecedented third straight year as the No. 1 Golf Television Show in America in the prestigious International Network of Golf Awards, presented at the PGA Merchandise Show in January.

The Traveling Golfer is a series of monthly shows hosted by Leodora, who has 17 years of experience in televised golf. The featured destination stays on the website for one month, before being replaced by a new show. Alternate shows also air in a two-month rotation. All old shows are archived for continued viewing on the YouTube Network and on the home website, www.travelinggolfervideo.com.
