Iconic Symbols of Reynolds Refreshed as Spring Approaches

A modernized brand reflects the renaissance of this award-winning community

(GREENSBORO, Ga.) — For nearly three decades, the world-renowned golf community of Reynolds Plantation on Lake Oconee—famous for a legacy of luxury living and its collection of stellar amenities along the shorelines of Georgia’s Lake Oconee—has been identified by the iconic symbols of the woodland duck in flight and the signature script of the Reynolds name.  And for the past three years, new ownership and new investment have created a renaissance for the community that now invites a more modern and simplified rebranding as Reynolds Lake Oconee.

“While our symbols may have changed, the values behind them have not,” explains John Gunderson, president of Daniel Corporation’s community division, the asset manager for the property. “There is incredible brand equity in the Reynolds name, as there is in the name of our most precious natural asset, Lake Oconee.  Highlighting them together in this clean, concise way was a natural evolution of this heralded brand. The physical assets across nearly every corner of the community have been updated and improved, and we feel that refreshing the brand reflects this, while maintaining a connection to the long, proud history of Reynolds.”

Reynolds Lake Oconee is a vibrant community of nearly 4,000 multi-generational families and their friends who share a passion for the outdoors and savor their time together. Located along one of the most treasured lakeside settings in the country, Reynolds Lake Oconee has established itself as a leader in sports and leisure activities on land and water, as well as a cultural and culinary center with a passion for music, the arts, and regional cuisine.

Since MetLife’s initial investment in August 2012, Reynolds Lake Oconee has undergone approximately $40 million in community-wide enhancements. Five of the six golf courses have undergone substantial investment and improvements, including Plantation Course, which reopens this spring following a renovation. Additionally, a golf village was built at the National course that includes a golf shop, snack bar, and tavern; dining areas in the Great Waters clubhouse were renovated; and Sandy Creek Barn, a restored wood-beam barn dating back to the 1820s, was acquired for use as an entertainment and wedding venue.  The rooms, cottages, restaurants, spa and pools of The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee have been redecorated and refurbished.  Finally, a second fitness center was added to The Lake Club, the hub of social and wellness activity for the community.

Reynolds Lake Oconee was established in 1988 with one golf course along the shoreline of Georgia's second largest lake. Today, Reynolds Lake Oconee features six world-class golf courses, four marinas, the Lake Club wellness center, and an award-winning tennis center. Reynolds also has developed into a popular vacation destination, centering around The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee, a 251-room lakefront resort and spa, which was named a 2015 AAA Five Diamond Lodging and 2014 Forbes Four-Star resort.
