Product Review: Knetgolf.com

Times are tough. The economy is in the tank and people are cutting corners at every turn. Grocery stores are increasingly selling their in-house brand over name brands golfers are getting an extra season (or two) out of golf shoes. Those accustomed to playing upscale courses are looking for special rates or settling for more play on their local municipal tracks.

With all that’s wrong, it is a welcome site to see something right. Knetgolf.com (http://www.knetgolf.com/) is that oasis in a troubled (golf) world.

According to its Web site, Knetgolf.com has been the industry leader in bringing golfers of all abilities great deals on every brand and style of golf ball available since 1995. They carrying more than 2 million golf balls in inventory at all times in their 40,000-square-foot fulfillment facility and distribute from centers in the United States and Canada – making receiving orders quick and easy.

American Golfer is interested in saving its readers money, so we put the Knetgolf product to the test. For reporting purposes, we took brand new Titleist Pro V1s, fresh from the box and refurbished Pro V1s from Knetgolf and marked them each to distinguish one from the other. These unique markings were the only visible difference and our tester wasn’t told which one was which. For a larger sample size in limited time, he played two of each for 36 holes.

The scores were added – and re-added – and the results were clear. After 36 holes with both balls, our golfer could not distinguish between the two and the two Knetgolf balls actually beat their competition by two strokes.

While the test was unscientific and could have been skewed by a few made putts beyond 30 feet, the look and feel is the same. From shaping shots to distance off the tee, when balls were struck well, they performed identically. They are, after all, the same balls. One just happens to come straight from the factory, while the other is a little “experienced.”

The savings at Knetgolf? About half the cost of new! And golfers can choose just about any model within any brand – from Titleist and Nike to Callaway and Top Flite.

We’ve been skeptical of refurbished balls in the past. If the best ball on the market sits at the bottom of a pond for a season, we’ll take a “bargain ball” over it any day. Because of that, we recommend you don’t take the cheaper way out by buying anything but their mint offerings. The savings are amazing either way.
