One qualifying team in all 50 states will advance to Las Vegas Finale for $50,000
(Charlotte, NC) – TPG Sports Group today introduced the U.S. Golf Classic (USGC) presented by Pitchfix, a national, winner-take-all cash prize tournament where the winning twosome will bring home $50,000. This is a once- in-a-lifetime opportunity for recreational golfers of all skill levels looking to participate in a high-stakes, professionally run and organized golf tournament. All 50 U.S. states will host a one-day qualifying tournament, where the winning two- person team in each state will advance to the USGC National Championship in Las Vegas, NV.
The format of the U.S. Golf Classic is a two-person best ball, with teams consisting of two players that will count their single lowest net score on each hole. Handicaps will be taken into account for all qualifying and Championship rounds. Depending on each golfer’s handicap, strokes will be applied before the round where they fall on corresponding holes. Teams can be made up of any combination of men, women, or seniors (60+).
“We wanted to create a platform for all golfers to be able to compete and win a cash prize, no matter their skill level,” says Charlie Wend, Vice President of TPG Sports Group. “We’re very excited from the response we’ve received so far from the recreational golf community to retired professional athletes, all looking to compete on an even playing field.”
All one-day state qualifying tournaments will be held on May 19, 2017. Golfers will not only be playing for the right to advance to Las Vegas, but also bragging rights, and the title of State Champion. All 50 state champions will advance to Las Vegas to compete in the USGC National Championship. With the help of USGC’s presenting partner, Pitchfix, participants will compete for a winner-take-all cash prize of $50,000. The USGC National Championship will be held at Aliante Golf Club in Las Vegas on August 26, 2017.
"Pitchfix is excited to team up with TPG Sports Group as presenting sponsor of the inaugural U.S. Golf Classic. We see the U.S. Golf Classic attracting top recreational golfers throughout the United States and familiarizing them with our high quality ball mark repair tools and golf accessories," said Bart Fokke, CEO Pitchfix.
Any golfer, 21 years of age and older, is eligible to register for this tournament. The USGC utilizes a handicap system to make it a competitive tournament for the entire field. Whether you are a high level golfer or have a handicap of 18, the USGC allows for an even playing field for all participants.
