PGA TOUR Superstore brings interactive golf retail experience to Alabama

Birmingham grand opening includes $30,000 in giveaways

(ATLANTA, GA) – PGA TOUR Superstore is ushering in a new experience for golfers in Birmingham with the June 6 grand opening of its first interactive Alabama retail store. As the anchor tenant, PGA TOUR Superstore is opening its new store at 165-A Inverness Plaza Shopping Center in Birmingham.

The new Birmingham store’s June 6 grand opening celebration will include $30,000 in product giveaways to the first customers in line.

“Birmingham represents a premier market for our expansion and is the ideal place to introduce our brand. PGA TOUR Superstore is recognized as the retail authority for golfers who want to shop like the pros and have access to all things golf,” said PGA TOUR Superstore President and CEO Dick Sullivan. “Our professional expertise and interactive environment inspires all types of golfers – from beginners to scratch golfers – to play the game and find everything they need under one roof. We are delivering to Birmingham, above and beyond, the best experiential destination in golf.”

PGA TOUR Superstore recently opened stores in North Scottsdale, Arizona; Southlake, Texas; and Orlando, Florida.

The PGA TOUR Superstore in Birmingham will employ more than 30 associates and will be staffed with PGA teaching professionals, have multiple state-of-the-art swing simulators, practice hitting bays, and a large putting green, and offer in-house club making and repairs to provide a unique, interactive experience to golf enthusiasts of all levels. The new Birmingham store experience includes:
* Certified golf pros and personalized golf lessons
* Four swing simulators for lessons and custom club fittings
* Three performance practice bays with swing analysis
* A 1,500 square foot putting green
* Golf apparel, shoes and equipment from brands including adidas, Bridgestone, Callaway, Cleveland-Srixon, Cobra-PUMA, ECCO, FootJoy, Mizuno, NIKE, PGA TOUR, PING, TaylorMade, Titleist and Under Armour

The Birmingham PGA TOUR Superstore grand opening event will take place June 6 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and include $30,000 in giveaways, putting contests and swing evaluations. In addition to the grand opening festivities, PGA TOUR Superstore is also funding a new “Introduction to Golf” physical education program at Inverness Elementary and Greystone Elementary schools to help inspire the next generation of golfers to learn how to play golf.

“Our new Birmingham store will be the largest and most interactive experiential golf store in the state of Alabama, and will also have the widest selection of brand names in equipment and apparel,” Sullivan noted. We look to double PGA TOUR Superstore’s presence over the next four years with more than 40 locations across the U.S. by 2019, adding one million square feet of new golf and tennis retail space.

PGA TOUR Superstore is owned and operated by Golf & Tennis Pro Shop, Inc., whose controlling owner and chairman is Arthur M. Blank, retired co-founder of The Home Depot and owner of the Atlanta Falcons.
