Billy Casper Golf Wins Helios HR Apollo Award for Talent Development

(VIENNA, VA) - Billy Casper Golf, the largest, domestic owner-operator of golf courses, country clubs and resorts, was presented the 2015 Helios HR Apollo Award for talent development on Wednesday, May 27 at the Ritz Carlton in Tysons Corner, VA.

Celebrating its ninth year, the Apollo Awards honor organizations which focus on the future by promoting employee development and engagement practices to achieve overall business goals.

BCG was recognized for innovative training programs, including its proprietary "ACE the Guest Experience," Building Our Buffalo mentorship program, Billy Casper Golf University and BCG Superintendent Institute.

The Helios HR Apollo Award follows BCG winning the Inc. Magazine "Hire Power Award" that celebrates private companies on the forefront of job creation and skills development.

Under ACE the Guest Experience, each of the company's 7,600-plus in-season employees at all levels learns how to work together to provide outstanding service to every golfer, every round, every day.  Since its inception in 2006, ACE has been vital to BCGs growth, cementing it as the golf industrys benchmark in guest and personnel satisfaction.

"The terrific team works smartly and tirelessly to provide fun and enjoyable experiences for everyone," says Peter Hill, CEO of BCG.  "Our company namesake, dear friend and PGA TOUR legend, the late Billy Casper, instilled a culture of positivity for our employees, golfers and club members."

Unique to the industry, "Building our Buffalo" pairs emerging talent with senior executives, and Billy Casper Golf University is an online career development resource with eligibility for PGA credits.  BCG Superintendent Institute features programs and opportunities for superintendents and assistant superintendents to enhance their business expertise.

Additionally, BCGs "Women on Course" learning module promotes ways to grow female participation in the game.

"We applaud Billy Casper Golf for building an atmosphere conducive to growth," says Kathy Albarado, CEO of Helios HR and Founder of the Apollo Awards.  "It's evident it is very deserving of this award as a former employee nominated the company."

Helios HR also pointed to BCG's "World's Largest Golf Outing" as a major contributor to fostering leadership and team-building skills.  Since 2011, the fundraiser has welcomed more than 36,000 golfers at nearly 120 BCG-managed courses and raised $2 million for the Wounded Warrior Project.

Finalists were judged by an independent panel of former Apollo Award winners, and senior human resources executives and industry leaders.  Five awards winners were presented based on number of employees: Ena (one to 50), Thio (51 to 200), Tri (201 to 600), Tessera (600-plus) and Hercules (non-profits).  Two additional awards were given: Hercules (non-profits) and Opa (special recognition of a program).
