The Abaco Club Embarks on $350M Transformation, Ushering in a New Era of Caribbean Luxury Living

The Abaco Club, a 500-acre private retreat on Great Abaco Island in The Bahamas, is undergoing a $350 million transformation that is set to redefine the standard for luxury private club living in the Caribbean. Blending Bahamian beauty with world-class amenities, the investment marks one of the region’s largest recent private club expansions.

Central to the reimagining is the addition of new luxury residences and curated lifestyle experiences. Following the near sell-out of its beachfront neighborhood, The Cays, the club has introduced The Green, an enclave of golf-front homes along the 14th hole of its award-winning championship course. Designed in an island-colonial style with interiors by Restoration Hardware, the single-level, three-bedroom homes feature sweeping fairway views, wide porches, and open-concept living spaces that embody relaxed island elegance.

This fall, members will also enjoy new amenities, including a beach club and racquet facility, alongside unique experiences ranging from golf tournaments on The Bahamas’ top-ranked course to e-foiling on Winding Bay and lobster diving excursions. Great Abaco Island’s famed “blue holes”—considered the Mount Everest of cave diving—further add to the destination’s allure for adventurous members.

The Abaco Club is developed and managed by Southworth, a family-owned leader in private club communities. Members also enjoy reciprocal privileges at Southworth’s portfolio of award-winning clubs worldwide.

New Highlights Include:

Wake Field Sports Complex: Completed last year and inspired by Boston’s Fenway Park, this new field—named in honor of former MLB player and Abaco Club member Tim Wakefield—hosts wiffle ball, kickball, and outdoor movie nights.

The Bay Club: Opening in fall 2025, this beachfront centerpiece will feature an infinity-edge pool and hot tub, beach bar, clubhouse with cinema and game room, boutique shopping, cigar lounge, and an exclusive adults-only member space.

The Stables Racquet Facility: Set for completion in October 2025, The Stables will include four tennis courts, four padel courts, a pro shop, a three-acre park, and a 50,000-square-foot pond with a fishing dock.

The Cays: Nearly sold out in its first phase, this neighborhood of oceanfront villas celebrates Bahamian design and lifestyle. One residence remains in Phase 1, priced at $5.7M, with Phase 2 launching summer 2025.

The Green: The club’s newest neighborhood of turnkey cottages along the golf course, with prices starting at $2.925M.

With its robust slate of new amenities, multi-generational programming, and residences designed for both luxury and laidback island living, The Abaco Club is redefining what it means to escape to the Caribbean.
