Mickelson Joins Kevin Frisch PR as Senior Vice President

(Gaylord, MI) – Kevin Frisch PR, a Michigan-based, fully-integrated public relations firm (specializing in golf, travel, lifestyle, and sports) announces that golf industry veteran Carl Mickelson has joined the company as Senior Vice President with a focus on client and media relations, and creative business development.

Mickelson brings a wealth of golf-industry experience, coming fresh from a 21-year run as Director of Corporate Communications for Dave Pelz Golf and the acclaimed Dave Pelz Scoring Game Schools.

“Carl and I realized several years ago that we share a similar vision for strategically helping clients as well as a similar approach to PR and business. I’m excited about the impact he’ll have helping our current and future clients achieve maximum exposure, marketing support and product development to grow their brands,” said owner Kevin Frisch. “We have always taken pride as a boutique firm in the golf industry that consistently achieves large-firm results for our clients. With our combined experience in public relations, golf operations and marketing expertise, we are well-positioned to provide exceptional value and performance for our current and future clients.”

Mickelson is a 26-year golf industry professional who is a tireless and creative champion for every brand he’s represented. A decorated journalist and golf industry aficionado, he brings a unique depth of golf business experience and talent to Kevin Frisch PR and its clients.

“Carl has a gift for storytelling and an astute instinct for what drives business in the golf industry. He will prove invaluable to our clients and their customers as the golf and media worlds continue to evolve into content-driven experiences,” continued Frisch.

Mickelson began writing for a regional golf publication in 1993 while still a journalism and radio-television-film student at the University of Houston. By 1996, he was editor-in-chief of Gulf Coast Golfer and North Texas Golfer, overseeing editorial and publishing-business operations and producing award-winning features on golf’s top players, instructors and courses. In all, Mickelson has served as editor for five different golf publications and a contributor to dozens more.

In 1998, he transitioned into public relations and media relations for legendary golf teaching guru Dave Pelz and his luxury-resort-based Dave Pelz Scoring Game Schools. In his 21 years with Dave Pelz Golf, Mickelson oversaw many phases of golf school and clinic operations, conducted countless successful marketing, creative and PR campaigns with leading golf industry media outlets, while developing valued relationships with top-ranked golf courses, resorts, equipment and management companies. He was the 2015 recipient of the Southern Texas PGA’s Media/PR Award. He is a member of the Golf Writers Association of America (GWAA) and the International Network of Golf (ING).

“I joke with Kevin that I’ve had two bosses/mentors in 26 years, publishing titan Robert S. Gray and golf instruction guru Dave Pelz; both bona fide geniuses,” Mickelson said. “Kevin’s genius is in putting his clients first in the most ingenious and passionate way. He has a rare gift for building bonds with everyone he works with and getting results with strategy, integrity and dedication. This is a dream role for me. I’m thrilled to work alongside Kevin and our amazing roster of clients.”
