(DUBLIN, Ohio) – Fry/Straka Global Golf Course Design (www.frystraka.com), a partnership with worldwide reach in award-winning golf-course design, has been named the Golf Course Design Firm of the Year for 2013 by The Boardroom Magazine in the publication’s annual Excellence in Achievement Awards. The Boardroom Magazine, endorsed by the Club Managers Association of America (CMAA), is the official publication of the Association of Private Club Directors (APCD).
The award ceremony will take place Feb. 6 at the CMAA National Convention, at the Orlando World Center Marriott, in Orlando, Fla.
“We are honored to have won this Excellence in Achievement Award from The Boardroom Magazine,” said Dana Fry. “We take pride in designing courses and renovations that exceed the expectations at each club, providing enjoyment for players far into the future.”
In a year in which the golf industry experienced evolutionary change throughout the world, Fry and Straka attained global acclaim for their completed works. Two of their projects, Camelback Golf Club (Ambiente Golf Course) and Columbia Country Club, are among the 12 courses named this year as recipients in the second annual ASGCA Design Excellence Recognition Program, and Ambiente was named among Golf Digest’s Best New Courses of 2013. Also, both Fry and Straka were in demand this year on several continents with numerous speaking engagements, radio interviews and invitational appearances. The requests and accolades for the design company continue to grow.
Acknowledgement for Fry/Straka Global Golf Course Design seems certain to increase with the approach of the 2017 U.S. Open, to be played at Erin Hills Golf Course, in Erin, Wis., as both partners were instrumental in the design of this renowned venue.
