(Covington, GA) — Bridgestone Golf’s newest member of its TOUR team, Davis Love III, used his Bridgestone irons and Tour B330-S golf ball to record 227 birdies and two eagles through the 2011 PGA TOUR FedEx Cup Tournament season resulting in a $23,100 donation to Golf 9/12.
As was promised at the beginning of the 2011 PGA TOUR Season, Bridgestone Golfcontributed $100 to Golf 9/12 for every birdie and $200 for every eagle that Love carded from the start of the 2011 PGA Tour season through September 11. Representatives from Bridgestone and Davis Love III made the donation official with a check presentation at this week’s McGladrey Classic on Sea Island.
Golf 9/12 is a new multi-venue, simultaneously played golf initiative intended to 11th the collective spirit of unity that swept through the country the day after 9/11/01 (see www.golf912.org). Golf 9/12 encourages people to take part in a day ofgolf, connected by a live mobile scoring and social networking application, in which $12 will be added to players’ greens fees or collected as donations through the www.golf912.org website to help fund educational programs at the Pentagon Memorial, the 9/11 Memorial and the Flight 93 Memorial. Proceeds also benefit Armed Forces charities, local First Responders charities and Friends of Freedom charities.
