Academy of Golf Art Welcomes New Member Craig Snyder

(OKATIE, South Carolina)
– The Academy of Golf Art (AcademyofGolfArt.org), whose mission is to enhance appreciation for golf art, announces Craig Snyder as a new member artist.

“Craig Snyder is creating art that captures the beauty and design of the golf holes he paints, and we welcome him to the Academy,” said Linda Hartough, a founding trustee of the Academy and a renowned golf-landscape artist.

Snyder fostered his love of golf landscapes and great course design in high school while working at the Alister MacKenzie-designed Meadow Club, in Northern California. After playing for his high school team, he went on to play college golf at Loyola Marymount University. Over the years Craig has chosen many careers in the golf industry, including teaching at junior golf camps in Pebble Beach, administering and marketing Nike golf camps, golf professional, full-time instructor and now, golf artist.

In 2019, after years of sketching and drawing golf courses and original golf hole designs, Craig decided to try his hand at painting. This medium has allowed him the opportunity to explore a new way to express his passion for golf landscapes.

“I’m excited about exploring my art, learning every day and creating new works for everyone to enjoy,” said Snyder.

Samples of Snyder’s work can be viewed on his website, https://www.craigsnyderart.com.

Artists interested in joining the Academy of Golf Art or learning more about it are invited to contact Sally J. Sportsman.

In 2018, the Academy exhibited select works of member artists in a special exhibition, The Academy of Golf Art: Artists of the Game, at the Morris Museum of Art, in Augusta, Georgia. The successful three-month exhibition spanned the week of the Masters Tournament. Works displayed included sculpture; paintings in oil, pastel, watercolor and casein; and photography.
