Family 'Matt'er: Sweet Win for Kuch at Memorial

Kuchar & Bridgestone Are Fan Favorites at Jack’s Place

(Covington, Ga.) — It felt like a real family affair at Muirfield Village on Sunday, as Matt Kuchar posted a decisive win  and Jack Nicklaus was high-fiving Matt’s sons, who were awaiting hugs from their dad greenside at the 18th. Bridgestone Golf Tour Team member, Matt Kuchar, continued his smiling assault on golf’s biggest events, using impressive shot-making in difficult conditions to capture his 3rd win in 13 months, at The Memorial Tournament.   Already the proud owner of the 2012 PLAYERS Championship and 2013 WGC Accenture Match Play Championship trophies, Kuchar relied on his TOUR B330-S ball and J40 clubs to hoist the trophy at Jack’s Place.

With the win, Kuchar becomes just the second multi-tournament winner on TOUR this year and earns his 6th career PGA TOUR victory.  The triumph at the prestigious Muirfield Village Golf Club earned Kuchar $1.16 million and vaulted him into 2nd place in the 2013 FedEx Cup standings.

On his way to a convincing two-shot victory, Kuchar finished first for the week in Greens-in-Regulation, hitting an impressive 75% for the tournament.  In addition, Kuchar displayed precision driving, hitting an unfathomable 92.8% of fairways in the final round and nearly 70% for the week.

“Matt has established himself as a big time player who performs best under difficult conditions; he’ll be a big factor in the upcoming majors,” said Dan Murphy, EVP of Sales/Marketing – Bridgestone Golf, Inc.  “In just a little more than a year, Kuch has notched wins in three of the biggest events on TOUR and we can’t wait to see what he’ll do next.  We’re proud to continue to have Matt in the Bridgestone family!”

Matt commented that, “The conditions on Saturday were so difficult that if you weren’t hitting it solidly you had no chance. The B330-S balls continue to cut through strong winds better than most balls and my comfort with the J40 clubs afforded some precise shot making both off the tee and into greens.  I appreciate the support from Bridgestone as a sponsor and for providing me the best possible equipment.”
