Laredo’s Max A. Mandel Municipal Golf Course Listed as Top Texas Public Course by GOLF Magazine

(Laredo, TX) — The Max A. Mandel Municipal Golf Course, designed by world-renowned architect Robert Trent Jones, Jr., is recognized as one of the top public access courses in Texas in the September issue of GOLF Magazine.  The publication published its ranking of the “Top 100 Courses You Can Play,” along with a listing of the best courses in each state.  Of the 20 Texas public facilities cited, The MAX holds the 15th position.

GOLF Magazine featured Laredo’s stunning new addition to the golf scene in south Texas in an April 2013 article titled “Rio Grande Slam” in which The MAX was praised as an exceptional value for the quality experience.  The favorable course review also advised golfers to “run to the border to play this superb, affordable new RTJ II signature design.”

GOLF Magazine’s recognition is yet another tremendous accolade for The MAX,” said Horacio De Leon, Jr., Assistant City Manager, City of Laredo, Texas. “The City of Laredo-owned golf facility is growing in popularity among residents and visitors from around the country and we see increased play as the news continues to spread that we have a splendid one-of-a-kind course, designed by a famous architect and occupying a majestic site with dramatic views of the Rio Grande.”
