Masters Winner Patrick Reed Tops Leaderboard of Social Media

(NEW YORK) - Master’s winner Patrick Reed said he felt the crowds at Augusta were not really favoring him over his fellow competitors, but what about social media?

There were nearly half million social media posts over the past week, with a peak of 27K posts between 5 and 6 p.m. and just like at the tournament, Reed was also on top of the social media leader board. According to international social media analytics firm Talkwalker, here is the social media leader board for this year’s Masters:
1. Patrick Reed, 22.5K mentions
2. Tiger Woods 17.1K
3. Jordan Spieth 16.2K
4. Rory McIlrow 8.2K
5. Phil Mickelson 5.4K

But the top social post is courtesy of an icon’s grandson. This tweet, featuring Jack Nicklaus’ grandson Gary hitting a hole in one in the 2018 Par 3 Contest led all social media with more than 68K engagements. https://twitter.com/TheMasters/status/981632348620972032

What about the brands? Top brands trending during the Master’s and its extensive coverage were:
1. Titleist 2.8K mentions
2. ESPN 2.3K
3. Sky Sports 1.9K
4. CBS 1.6K
5. Anheuser-Busch brands 1.2K
6. Nike 1.1K

One of those Anheuser-Busch brands took advantage of the Masters’ banning spectators from yelling “Dilly Dilly” or face being ejected from the tournament as evidenced in this Tweet from The Sporting News. https://twitter.com/sportingnews/status/981870172611919874
