Middle Tennessee State alum becomes first two-time winner at McCormick, awaits Web starts
(McCormick, S.C.) – Web.com Tour member Chas Narramore out of Kingston, Tenn., has been a busy Blue Raider as of late. The former Middle Tennessee State star has been balancing a wedding and a full time schedule on the SwingThought Tour, all while waiting his turn to compete on the Web.com Tour since earning conditional status at Q School this past Fall. With such a busy schedule one might expect to struggle with their golf game. Not Narramore!
The 2012 Savannah Lakes Village Classic Champion, following up on a T2 finish at the Killearn Country Classic the week before, did what no player has ever done in McCormick before, and that is winning the Savannah Lakes Village Classic twice! Several PGA TOUR stars have won in McCormick on the SwingThought Tour (formerly the NGA/Hooters Tour) including Camilo Villegas, Kris Blanks, Michael Connell, Kevin Kisner, Will Wilcox, and Blayne Barber but none has pulled the repeat. Even more like Major Champions Zach Johnson, Ben Curtis, and Keegan Bradley have played in the event over the years and not been able to put on the Blue Jacket even once in the event commonly referred to by SwingThought Tour players as the second Masters.Narramore wasn’t the only player to pull a first at this year’s Savannah Lakes Classic as Kent State alum Mackenzie Hughes, a star rookie on the SwingThought Tour this season out of Canada, shot a tournament record 61 in round 3 to give him the lead heading into the final day. Again, with so many future PGA TOUR stars having played this event in the over 12 years of its existence, it makes Hughes accomplishment even more impressive. Hughes would shoot a final round 74 to finish alone in 4th.
With four birdies in his final nine holes, Narramore shot a final round 67 on his way to a four-day 18 under par total to get the win by four shots over IUPUI alum Michael Davan and UGA star Joey Garber. Garber has been knocking on the door all season looking for his first SwingThought Tour win while Davan had the low round of the day 66 to jump from 9th to tie for 2nd in his 1st SwingThought Tour event of the season. San Diego alum Joseph Harrison, who was in 2nd after round 3, shot a final round 74 to finish in a tie for 5th with Web.com Tour member and former Alabama star Nick Rousey. Big Break Myrtle Beach winner and former Auburn star Jimmy Brandt finished 14th while former South Carolina Gamecock and one half of the now famous Bryan Brother Trick Shot team Wesley Bryan finished at T15. Big Break Palm Beaches runner-up and former Delaware star Justin Martinson finished T18 with 2013 Player of the Year runner-up Justin Lower and 2014 Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year Dominic Bozzelli.
Narramore received $20,000 for the win while Davan and Garber each received $8,970 for tying for 2nd. Hughes received $6,770 for finishing solo 4th while Rousey and Harrison each took home $5,370 for finishing T5. Altogether the purse for the event was $140,000 with 60 players making the two day cut to play on Saturday and Sunday.

The SwingThought Tour heads to Gainesville, Ga. May 12th through 17th for the Milton Martin Honda Classic to be held on the Championship Chattahoochee Golf Course. 2012 ST Tour Player of the Year Brandon Brown returns as the defending champion. Tournament play begins Thursday May 14th and continues through to the Final Round Sunday May 17th with a special sponsor’s pro-am tournament to be held Wednesday May 13th. The event is 4-days, 72-holes with $140,000 guaranteed purse on the line!
