Charleston Area Golf Resorts Offer Premier Play

From Breathtaking Views to Expertly Designed Layouts, Charleston Area Golf Resorts Offer Premier Play

(CHARLESTON, SC.) – Home to over 19 championship courses, the Charleston area remains a golf mecca for families and friends looking for a premier golf vacation. Offering the most elite play in the Lowcountry, three exquisite golf resorts- Kiawah Island, Seabrook Island and Wild Dunes Resort- provide players with nine expertly-designed courses to perfect their game. Golfers seeking breathtaking scenery, winning layouts and tricky tests of skill should head to the Charleston area’s golf resorts for a top-notch tee-to-green experience this season.

Kiawah Island Golf Resort
Operating five public courses, Kiawah Island is recognized internationally for its world-class golf. The island has been proud to host several championships including the 1991 Ryder Cup and 2012 PGA Championship and is thrilled to be the host site for the 2021 PGA Championship. The resort is also home to a state-of-the-art Learning Center with a full range of instructional programs including the famed Kiawah Island Club Golf Academy.

· The Ocean Course- (7,356 yards, par 72)
Host site for the 2012 PGA Championship, this Pete Dye design offers breathtaking views along 2.5 miles of Atlantic Ocean and more seaside holes than any other course in the Northern Hemisphere. Arguably the Lowcountry’s most famed course, The Ocean Course is ideal for players looking for an unforgettable golf experience.

· Turtle Point Golf Course- (7,062 yards, par 72)
Meandering through dense interior forests and along backwater lagoons, Turtle Point’s three holes on the Atlantic Ocean were originally designed to serve as buffers for loggerhead nesting areas. Jack Nicklaus designed, the course’s narrow fairways, small greens and bounty of water hazards provide true tests of strategy and accuracy.

· Cougar Point Golf Club- (6,875 yards, par 72)
Accommodating the high-handicap golfer, Cougar Point offers forgiveness and fun for those seeking an ego-boosting round. Multiple holes play directly along broad expanses of tidal marsh, providing players with panoramic views of the Kiawah River.

· Oak Point Golf Club- (6,701 yards, par 72)
Built on the grounds of an old indigo and cotton plantation, Oak Point Golf Club features a design reminiscent of Scottish golf. Tucked within Kiawah River Estates, the course features oak-lined fairways, salt marshes and challenging bunkers. This summer, Oak Point is closed for a complete renovation.

· Osprey Point Golf Club- (6,932 yards, par 72)
Home to four natural lakes, this Tom Fazio designed course offers awe-inspiring views from each of its 18 holes. Featuring generous landing areas and few forced carries, Osprey Point is very playable for the average golfer, posing fairness to high-handicappers.

Seabrook Island
A private and welcoming oceanfront community just miles from historic Charleston, Seabrook Island is home to 36 holes of award-winning golf immersed within serene marshes and lush maritime forest. Privacy ensures guests a refreshing pace of play and excellent service. Private and group instruction is also available through Seabrook Island’s PGA-certified professionals.

· Ocean Winds- (6,765 yards, par 72)
Situated amidst the barrier island environment, Ocean Winds plays along tidal marshes and sand dunes out to the Atlantic Ocean. As the course name suggests, prevailing winds drastically factor into a golfer’s round, making accurate club selection key.

· Crooked Oaks- (6,780 yards, par 72)
Winding its way through moss-hung, centuries old live oak trees, Crooked Oaks is designed by legendary architect Robert Trent Jones Sr. Unique Champion Bermuda  greens play faster than normal, offering an added challenge to an already difficult “Jones’ run.”

Wild Dunes Resort
Nestled on the northern tip of the Isle of Palms, Wild Dunes Resort offers 36 holes of signature golf situated along the Intracoastal Waterway, catering to players of all skill levels. Those seeking to master their game off the course can sign up for one of the resort’s variety of golf school clinics or lessons, offered in both private and group sessions.

· Harbor Course- (6,359 yards, par 70)
Offering a cohesive variety of short and long holes, with nine bordering the Intracoastal Waterway, this Tom Fazio design requires shots from one island to another across the waters of Morgan Creek. Adorned with large greens and numerous severe hazards, 17 of the 18 holes incorporate water, marsh or both, in addition to extensive bunker play.

· Links Course- (6,709 yards, par 72)
Wild Dunes Resort is pleased to announce that the Tom Fazio designed Links Course will be closing on Monday, May 4 for significant renovations. The renovations will include resurfacing of the greens to Bermuda grass, replacing the asphalt cart paths with new concrete paths and renovating the irrigation system. The Links Course is scheduled to reopen this fall.
