West Bay Club Celebrates Completion Of Phase Two Of Amenity Improvement Project

(Estero, Florida)
– The West Bay Club, a luxury community in Estero, Fla., is celebrating the completion of phase two of a $20 million-plus renovation project. Phase two of the three-phase amenity improvement project included updating and transforming the Club’s Niblick pub, the community’s Bay House activity center, and the construction of a new poolside dining facility and a new fitness building. The third and final phase of the project is underway as West Bay Club’s ocean-side amenity, the Beach Club, is being significantly upgraded and expanded.

The new Niblick is a vibrant indoor/outdoor pub overlooking the club’s golf course. The pub’s open layout provides expansive views of the 18-hole Pete & P.B. Dye golf course (refreshed in 2018 by Fry/Straka), has modern décor, and has a laid-back naturally welcoming atmosphere. The lower level of The Niblick offers a full-service kitchen serving both the upper dining and outdoor terrace, while the patio has been enhanced with new furniture, shade canopies and refined landscaping.

Adjacent to the community Bay House, a new 3,500 square-foot fitness facility has been constructed and blends seamlessly with the Bay House’s resort pool area. Large glass doors and windows allow for fantastic views of the pool and nearby golf course. The fitness facility has state-of-the-art cardio-vascular and strength training circuits; space for stretching and a trainer’s area. This is the place where healthy lifestyles are not just talked about, they are actively encouraged, all set within a breathtaking natural environment that inspires mind, body and soul.

The new poolside dining facility, the Aqua Café, offers a relaxed and casual atmosphere with fresh farm-to-table cuisine and tropical drinks. Indoor, outdoor and poolside dining are available. The menu features an array of creative fare, including “BayFit” items, which are certified heart healthy and under 700 calories.

Phase one of the project was completed in January 2021 and focused on the club’s Golf House. The new Golf House features an expanded and redesigned member’s private dining area, lounge, pro shop and locker rooms. The Golf House includes exquisite finishes, improved acoustics, and an open concept dining space with folding glass doors for expanded outdoor dining options. In addition, an open-air dining venue on the new terrace features fire-pit tables, providing members with sunset views while overlooking the golf course.  The stunning Signature Bar, considered the masterwork of the project, features high ceilings, a wine wall featuring more than 400 bottles, and a unique menu of elevated food offerings, creative desserts, and signature cocktails accompanied by jazz-style music from the grand piano.

As noted, the Beach House, an old Key West-style building located on the Gulf of Mexico, is also being completely refreshed in phase three of the renovation.  The Beach Club’s upper floor will receive new paint, tables and chairs, men’s and women’s restrooms, lighting and kitchen equipment. The outdoor area will receive new decking and railings, new tables and chairs, and proper shade elements. The property will be re-landscaped, parking will be reconfigured and a new beach boardwalk will connect the parking area to the beach providing a better functioning entrance for residents and guests.

In early 2020, the amenity improvement project was overwhelmingly approved by West Bay Club members. Meyers & Associates architects and Troon Design worked with West Bay Club management and a resident-led Renovation Task Force collaborated for nearly a year on the West Bay Vision 2020 plan for the amenity improvements. Crews began working on the first phase of construction in April 2020. The amenity improvement project comes on the heels of a $4 million renovation/enhancement of The West Bay Club’s Pete Dye championship golf course in 2018 by Fry/Straka golf course architects.

The member-owned private golf club and community is located on 868 acres adjacent to Estero Bay and bordering 500 acres of nature preserve and wetlands. Residents of West Bay declare “this is their someday.” Troon Privé, the private club operations division of Troon, manages the award-winning club and community association.
