Golf Heritage Society to Present Zoom Talks Featuring Stephen Proctor, Shirley Spork

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.)
– The Golf Heritage Society (GolfHeritage.org) will host two new Zoom talks in November. Stephen Proctor, renowned author, and Shirley Spork, one of the original founders of the LPGA’s teaching division, will be featured. Proctor’s presentation will take place on Wednesday, November 3. The Zoom talk with Spork will be two weeks later, on Wednesday, November 17. Both will begin at 7:00 p.m. EST. And both will be open to the public – a GHS first.

“We are delighted to present these two extraordinary speakers as a part of the GHS Grand Zoom Series,” said Dr. Bern Bernacki, the Society’s president. “These interactive engagements with Stephen and Shirley will certainly enrich the GHS mission to honor and preserve golf’s history.”

Proctor is a retired award-winning journalist and the author of “Monarch of the Green: Young Tom Morris: Pioneer of Modern Golf,” published in 2019. “The Long Golden Afternoon,” to be published in 2022, tells the story of the formative age of golf before the Great War.

Spork, a former professional golfer, was recognized as LPGA Teacher of the Year in 1959 and 1984. She served as the LPGA’s T&CP chairperson for eight years.
