ClubsHELP, Other Charities Reap Rewards of TaylorMade Driving Relief Golf Challenge

(Orlando, Fla.) — Charity was the big winner this past weekend, when live golf returned to center stage and four of the best golfers in the world showcased their talents in the TaylorMade Driving Relief Golf Challenge.

Rory McIlroy and Dustin Johnson won on the first play-off hole over Rickie Fowler and Matthew Wolff at Seminole Golf Club in Juno Beach, Florida. The victors earned $1.85 million for their designated charity, the American Nurses Foundation.  Fowler and Wolff won $1.15 million for CDC Foundation. McIlroy earned $1.1 million with his shot on the short par-3 17th. More than $5 million was raised, including viewer donations.

Among other charitable recipients was ClubsHELP, a 501(c)3 foundation, created in April to connect golf clubs with hospitals in their local areas and to provide critically needed support for health workers as they care for victims of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In less than two months, ClubsHELP has grown from a single club to a network of nearly 400 clubs supporting hospitals, food banks, emergency services responders and nursing homes in their communities. Through ClubsHELP, there is collective energy and support of golf club members across the country, with resources being deployed where they are needed most—at the local level.

With this donation, ClubsHELP will contribute $100,000 to Jupiter Medical Center Foundation’s COVID-19 Fund, which will allow the facility to continue to meet the healthcare needs of patients and the community despite the long-term financial implications of the Coronavirus.

The assistance of golf’s premier organizations, including the National Club Association, the Golf Writers Association of America, and their leadership, have jump started the ClubsHELP initiative and made a swift and meaningful impact in communities throughout the United States. Additionally, the American Hospital Association (AHA) and American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) have worked to connect their membership with golf clubs across the country.
