FootJoy Introduces New FJ 1857 Collection

An Assortment of Footwear and Apparel That Sets a New Standard for Luxury Golf Performance

(Fairhaven, MA) – Introducing the FJ 1857 Collection, a new line from FootJoy that celebrates the brand’s time honored commitment to crafting the finest golf footwear, apparel and gloves of incomparable quality and design.

FootJoy’s brand history dates back to 1857 when a young man named Fredrick Packard broke away from his father’s boot workshop to establish his own shoe business. His steadfast dedication to innovation, quality and style soon intersected with a love for the game of golf and the FootJoy line of premium performance golf footwear was born. The FJ 1857 Collection honors this heritage while setting a new standard for luxury performance for golf.

“FootJoy has a storied history of excellence in product design and innovation, from the Classics line that was, at one point, virtually the only shoe worn on the PGA Tour and at the top clubs around the world, to the iconic DryJoys franchise that revolutionized all-weather footwear to the Pro/SL category that is currently the hottest shoe on Tour,” said Chris Lindner, President, FootJoy. “1857 celebrates FJ’s deep-rooted history in the game with a timeless collection of luxury footwear and apparel for today’s most discerning golfers.”

The process for creating the FJ 1857 footwear line is the same today as it was 160 years ago when FootJoy was making footwear in Brockton, MA. Through a partnership with a family-owned factory in Europe, FJ utilizes a 150-step shoemaking process for creating world-class Goodyear welted footwear. 1857 footwear models feature hand-selected premium Italian calfskin leathers, leather outsoles, full leather linings, suede heel pockets and cork-layered fit-beds for molded, custom comfort.

The debut 1857 footwear line will feature several iconic cleated golf styles, including the timeless saddle and wing tip patterns. The full leather outsoles feature a distinctive FJ 1857 stamp as well as Pulsar LP cleats with metal threads for a stable underfoot platform.

Luxury off course dress shoes are also available, including popular straight tip, double monk strap, blucher wing tip patterns and three all-over genuine suede wingtips in red, blue and grey.

The full collection of footwear will be offered in alpha sizing and built on the popular Aintree last, the same last used in FJ Classics, which features a rounded toe character, standard fit across the forefoot, instep and heel.

The FJ 1857 apparel line combines elevated constructions and premium materials with timeless, iconic styling. The collection is designed to meet the needs of the most discerning golf consumer both on and off the course. The premium golf knits are available in a variety of styles, colors and patterns, constructed using a supima cotton-based performance blend to optimize comfort and style.

An assortment of high-grade 100% cashmere sweaters are offered in several silhouettes for essential layering, in addition to outer layer items that blend function and premium styling. Wool blend trousers provide the perfect complement for 1857 footwear and apparel both on and off the course.

Complementing the apparel for wear on the golf course is a range of long sleeve woven shirts in a variety of essential patterns as well as several outerwear options. The 1857 apparel collection is completed with a meticulously constructed quilted stretch woven barn coat that is finished with red accented seam taping on the interior.

The final piece of the FJ 1857 Collection is a supple genuine Pittards® leather golf glove manufactured to the enduring standards that have made FJ the #1 glove in golf for over 30 years.  Featuring ultra-soft, Tour-grade vanilla leather, supple leather binding, and precision stitching, the glove is packaged in a collector’s edition case that includes an exclusive FJ 1857 coin ball marker.

The 1857 Collection is available at select golf shops and www.fj1857.com.
