Meadowbrook Country Club Invites the Public to Attend Luncheon with LPGA Legend Shirley Spork

Non-member tickets available for the October 6 event

(Northville, MI) — Meadowbrook Country Club will host a special luncheon October 6 to honor LPGA Tour founder, teaching legend and Michigan native Shirley Spork.

A limited number of non-club member tickets for this special event are available for $24.95 by contacting Meadowbrook Country Club assistant professional Stephanie Jennings at 248-349-3600, extension 276 or by emailing her at sjenningspga@gmail.com.

Spork recently published her memoir, “From Green to Tee,” and copies will be available for purchase at the luncheon. The Michigan Golf Hall of Famer also will answer questions about her illustrious career during her appearance.

Spork, a sprightly 90-year-old who grew up in Detroit in the 1930s and early 1940s, not only was one of the LPGA’s 13 Founders but she also played a pivotal role in establishing the LPGA’s Teaching & Club Professionals Division. In 1947, Meadowbrook Country Club gave Spork an honorary membership which enabled her to compete in significant tournaments in Michigan and elsewhere.
