Product Review: Huk Gear

Golf and fishing are unquestionably linked. Both are quintessential outdoor sports and enjoyed by millions of people across the world. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen a golfer walk by a pond, see fish swimming around and say, “I wish I would’ve brought a fishing pole.”

Still not convinced? Look no further than what Johnny Morris, the owner of Bass Pro Shops, is doing in the beautiful Ozark Mountains of Missouri. He’s combined fantastic golf and legendary fishing to create a Mecca for both in the heart of America.

Huk Performance Fishing is doing its part to ease the transition from golf to fishing, too. The Next Level Shorts, for instance, are an excellent option for both. These lightweight shorts feature one cargo pocket and a stretch material for extreme mobility. They're also blessed with a quick-dry fabric in case you’re caught in an unexpected rain burst or to wick away sweat on a hot, summer day.

Warning: These shorts are relaxed fit, and fit bigger than other shorts. I generally wear bottoms with a 31- or 32-inch waist, but these feel more like a 34. Size down when ordering.

My club doesn’t allow cargo shorts on the golf course, but I get plenty of use - and compliments - from my Huk Deluxe Tech Stretch hat. This six-panel, mid-profile cap is offered in two sizes - M-L / L-XL. Huk technology enhances the breathability and moisture-wicking capabilities to help keep golfers from overheating on the course. This sporty hat has quickly become one of my favorites - on and off the course.

I wouldn’t recommend the Huk polos for the course, as they’re adorned with glorious (and large) images of fish, but the company offers an awesome 1/4 zip and full-zip jacket for someone looking at outerwear.
