LACOSTE Celebrates U.S. Women’s Open Anniversaries of Cristie Kerr and Catherine Lacoste

(RELEASE) - While René Lacoste was a tennis legend, LACOSTE also has a rich golf history. Both René Lacoste’s wife, Simone Thion de la Chaume and daughter, Catherine Lacoste, were champion golfers. The brand continues its golf and tennis heritage by sponsoring athletes and tournaments around the globe.

Ahead of the U.S. Women’s Open, LACOSTE is celebrating the 10th anniversary of longtime LACOSTE ambassador Cristie Kerr’s win at the tournament. This year also marks the 50th anniversary of Catherine Lacoste’s win at the same competition. She was the first foreigner, the only amateur to date and the youngest player at the time to win the U.S. Women's Open. After this historic win, the American press nicknamed her “The Crocodile Kid,” a nod to her father’s famous nickname.

“To be in that special club of winning a major championship, those are memories you can’t replace,” said Cristie Kerr.

A video of Cristie talking about her win is available here: https://youtu.be/Hg1sWmZttMs.
