GelTees, the 100% Biodegradable Tee, Signs PGA TOUR Player Sebastian Muñoz

(POMPANO BEACH, Fla.) – After a successful launch at the 2017 PGA Merchandise Show and the Golf Industry Show, GelTees the world’s only 100 percent biodegradable golf tee, announces its next big step in the golf world with the signing of PGA TOUR professional Sebastian Muñoz.

Muñoz started teeing up with GelTees at the 2017 AT&T Bryon Nelson in Irving, Texas and will display the GelTees logo on his golf bag through Dec. 31.

Muñoz is from Bogotá, Colombia and turned pro in 2015. The 24-year-old has one victory on the Web.com TOUR, winning the 2016 Club Colombia Championship, and also has two international victories on the PGA TOUR Latinoamérica. Muñoz played college golf at the University of North Texas (2011-15) with fellow professionals Carlos Ortiz and Rodolfo Cazaubón.

With more than 2.8 billion wooden tees made annually in the USA alone, GelTees is on a mission to lower the environmental impact of the game and create “a greener way to golf.” The 100 percent biodegradable golf tee will help prevent the destruction of up to 70,000 trees per year and keep 1,600 tons of carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere.

GelTees are a green friendly innovation that has been in development and rigorous testing for nearly five years by Capsuline, a leading manufacturer of gelatin capsules for the pharmaceutical industry, based in Pompano Beach, Fla. Having an in-depth knowledge of the biodegradable properties of gelatin, Capsuline was able to convert remnant gelatin into an eco-friendly tee for golfers.

“We are very excited to team up with Sebastian,” said Tiger Summers, CEO of GelTees. “We look forward to GelTees having some visibility on the PGA Tour and appreciate his efforts towards helping GelTees expand its name and branding worldwide.”

GelTees recently partnered with Cog Hill Golf and Country Club in Chicago for a successful Earth Day promotion. The company has launched a nation-wide sampling program and is inviting courses across the country to test the eco-friendly tees. The biodegradable tees break into finite pieces upon contact and dissolve within five to seven days depending on environmental conditions and on course irrigation.

“The golf tee has evolved,” said Summers. “GelTees are the world’s only fully biodegradable golf tees. We aim to lower the environmental impact of the game, improve sustainability, and fund industry organizations to support those initiatives. GelTees are a greener way to golf.”

GelTees are available at Amazon, Jet.com and Walmart. For more information, visit www.geltees.com.
