Derek Jeter Celebrity Invitational Returns to Las Vegas April 19–22

Tournament to Remain in Las Vegas for Three Additional Years; Star-Studded Two-Day Golf Tournament at Shadow Creek supports Jeter’s Turn 2 Foundation

(NEW YORK) – Some of the biggest names in the world of sports and entertainment will gather for three days of competitive golf and special events at the Derek Jeter Celebrity Invitational (DJCI) April 19-22, 2017. Shadow Creek, one of the world’s most exclusive golf courses, once again will be the home of this spectacular invitation-only golf tournament with the award-winning ARIA Resort & Casino providing hospitality for the tournament’s guests and hosting the event’s evening parties, including the DJCI Gala.

In its first two years in Las Vegas, the event raised more than $2 million for Jeter’s Turn 2 Foundation. Buoyed by this success, Jeter and Turn 2 are pleased to announce a three-year contract extension for the event with JP Sports + Entertainment, ICON International and ARIA.

“I look forward to the Derek Jeter Celebrity Invitational each year, as it’s an incredible opportunity to enjoy time on the golf course with great friends while raising invaluable funds that will make a difference in the lives of the young people in Turn 2’s programs,” said Jeter. “This event has grown tremendously in its first two years, and I am very excited that we have an opportunity to continue this tradition at Shadow Creek and ARIA for another three years.”

Pete Falcone, Owner & CEO of JP Sports + Entertainment, the management company for DJCI, said, “I’m thrilled that DJCI will be returning to ARIA and Shadow Creek for the next three years. Our corporate partners, particularly Turner and ICON International, have been instrumental in the tournament’s growth and I look forward to working with Derek, the Turn 2 Foundation and our hosts for years to come.”

This year’s DJCI is scheduled to kick off Wednesday, April 19 with a private welcome reception. The two-round Celebrity-Amateur tournament, which pairs one celebrity with four amateur participants, will begin Thursday, April 20 at Shadow Creek, and will conclude Friday, April 21. The signature DJCI Gala and exclusive silent auction, featuring one-of-a-kind memorabilia and experiences, will take place at ARIA on Thursday evening.

Past DJCI participants include Michael Jordan, Wayne Gretzky, Ken Griffey, Jr., Cal Ripken, Jr., Russell Wilson, Mike Piazza, Jorge Posada, Rob Riggle, Brandi Chastain and Jerome Bettis, among others, along with performances from Ludacris and Flo Rida. This year’s celebrity participants will be announced in the near future.

Former New York Yankees All-Star shortstop Derek Jeter established the Turn 2 Foundation during his rookie year in December 1996, while sharing a pizza with his father in a Detroit hotel room. Since its launch, Turn 2 has worked to help young people reach their full potential by creating and supporting initiatives that promote leadership development, academic achievement, positive behavior, healthy lifestyles and social change among high school students in New York City and West Michigan. The Foundation celebrated its 20th Anniversary in November.
