Conducted by the United States Golf Association (USGA), Masters Tournament and the PGA of America, the 2018 Drive, Chip & Putt Championship is a complimentary youth golf development initiative that welcomes boys and girls ages 7-15 in four separate age categories. Juniors compete in all three skills (Drive, Chip & Putt), earning points within each skill with the overall champion determined from the highest number of accumulated points.

Local qualifying will take place throughout all 50 states from May – August, 2017. Top performers at the local level advance through sub-regional and regional qualifiers. The top 80 performers (40 boys and 40 girls) will earn an invitation to the National Finals at Augusta National Golf Club on Sunday, April 1, on the eve of the 2018 Masters Tournament.

In recent years, a number of finalists have either come through qualifiers at Troon locations or call Troon-managed facilities their home clubs. Grant Herrenbruck and Tate Herrenbruck from Salina Country Club in Salina, Kans. both made it to the finals in 2015 and 2016 in Augusta.  In 2014, Raina Ports who plays and practices out of El Conquistador Golf & Tennis in Oro Valley, Ariz., made it to the finals and placed second overall.

Through the 2016 Drive, Chip & Putt competition, 9-year-old Sarah Lydic of Bear Trap Dunes Golf Club, a Troon-managed facility in Ocean View, Delaware, outperformed all of her competitors in regional qualifying to earn one of 80 spots in the finals. On April 2nd Lydic will compete in the Drive, Chip & Putt National Finals at Augusta National Golf Club. The Finals will be broadcast live on Golf Channel. In addition, Golf Channel will be sending a crew to Bear Trap Dunes on April 2nd to show the club’s viewing party as members and guests cheer Lydic on.
