Cobra Golf Unveils Game-Changing King F7 Irons for 2017 Providing One Distance Iron - Two Ways to Play

New KING Iron Models Ensure An Innovative Solution for the Entire Universe of Golf Skill Levels and Swing Types

(Carlsbad, Calif.) - Cobra Golf, a leader in golf club innovation and technology, introduced its most groundbreaking and versatile iron family yet, further expanding the offering of clubs under the revered KING name. The new KING F7 set of irons, along with COBRA’s first-ever F7 ONE LENGTH set provides golfers with optimized performance, distance, forgiveness and control of every shot.

“The 2017 iron offering is COBRA’s most innovative and exciting yet,” said Tom Olsavsky, Head of R&D for COBRA Golf.  “Not only have we improved our progressive sets this year, but we are introducing our first-ever ONE LENGTH option that will help to bring more consistency and simplicity to the game of golf for all players. In 2017 we will truly have an innovative, high-quality iron solution for every type of player.”

The 2017 KING irons offering is headlined by the KING F7, which builds upon the popular KING F6 model that introduced the ultimate progressive set to the market.  The KING F7 irons incorporate COBRA’s patented TECFLO technology to deliver a set that utilizes advanced cavity construction to optimize the performance characteristics of each iron. A new PWRSHELL face introduces a thinner face and sole structure that increases the Sweet Zone and delivers distance, precision and forgiveness. TECHFLO along with a new Thin, Optimized and Personalized (T.O.P) polymer medallion badge that is lighter than steel, allows the CG to be moved lower to create even more distance and forgiveness. Additionally, CNC milling improves groove structures in these irons to deliver maximum spin and trajectory control throughout the set. Using our proven Progressive Spin Technology we’ve combined progressive grooves and CNC milling to deliver maximum spin for each iron type.

A full hollow design with PWRSHELL face insert in the long irons (3-5) delivers low CG with an extremely responsive face for easier to hit, high-flying long irons.  In the mid irons (6-7), a half hollow design combined with PWRSHELL technology delivers optimal CG for more precise, easy-to-hit clubs, meaning more greens-in-regulation. The scoring irons (8-PW) utilize a traditional cavity back design with wedge spaced grooves for added spin and more control to attack the pins. Finishing out the KING F7 set is a specialty wedge design that provides added versatility and enhanced shot control greenside in the sand and gap wedges.

Available in both right-hand and left-hand, The KING F7 (MAP: $699 – 7-piece steel set (5-GW) (graphite available for $799 through custom only); $799 combo set steel – 4-5h + 6-GW; $899 – combo set graphite – 6-GW+ 4-5h;) irons are offered stock with Lamkin REL-Black grips and in either a Fujikura Pro 63i (graphite – stiff, regular, lite) or True Temper King F7 (steel – stiff and regular) shaft option.

The F7 Irons for women ($899 – 7-GW + 4-5h, 5-6h) feature the same innovative technology in the men’s irons, including TECFLO construction, PWRSHELL face, Progressive Spin Technology and premium chrome plating for a nice finish and durability. The ladies stock combo set comes available with two hybrids and five irons. They feature COBRA Lamkin REL silver/pink or black/blue grips and graphite Fujikura Pro 55i.

The men’s KING F7 ONE LENGTH irons make their debut as COBRA’s first ever single-length iron set.  Inspired by the brand’s relationship with rising PGA TOUR star, Bryson DeChambeau, KING F7 ONE utilizes a similar TECFLO construction as the KING F7 along with PWRSHELL Faces and T.O.P. Technology.  However, the KING F7 ONE features constant length irons that have been re-engineered for 7-iron length and weighting throughout the set, and are designed with optimized geometry to produce consistent trajectory and distance gapping from long irons to wedges.  In fact, COBRA’s research shows that across the board players testing KING F7 ONE irons improved in accuracy, with tighter distance and dispersion variation from shot-to-shot, leading to increased confidence and better iron play.  In addition, the clubs one-length design simplifies the set-up for one swing through the set leading to more centered club face impacts. Beyond long irons and approach shots, COBRA testing demonstrated improved short-game performance with the single-length set, due to the simplicity of set-up and execution.

“I approach the game of golf a lot differently than most, primarily from a scientific standpoint,” said DeChambeau. “I have a more technical, unique swing than many other players, but there is a misconception that single-length irons are only for a single-plane swing like mine. That is simply not true. Regardless of how you swing and what your skill level is, you can benefit from the simplicity of a constant length set of irons. I am proud to be at the forefront of this with COBRA as preliminary research has shown that single-length sets can make the game easier and more enjoyable for players of all swing types.”

The KING F7 ONE (MAP: $699 steel; $799 graphite through custom only) will be available in both right-hand and left-hand versions, in steel stiff and regular flex, and graphite stiff, regular and lite flex, and will feature a 5-GW standard set make-up.  They are offered with Lamkin REL-Blue grips with red and white accents and in either a Fujikura Pro 63i (graphite) or True Temper King F7 (steel) shaft option. All F7 irons available January 13, 2017.
