Minjee Lee Makes History with Lotte Championship Victory

(HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA) – Srixon, Cleveland and XXIO congratulate staffer Minjee Lee for winning the LPGA Lotte Championship over the weekend at Ko Olina Golf Club in Kapolei, Hawaii. The 19-year-old Australian, who began the final round five strokes off the lead, finished with an 8-under-par 64 and 16-under total to win by one. Her closing round included a 30 on the back nine.

“Yesterday I spoke to my coach and he was like, ‘You’re only five back. Just shoot eight under and you’ll be fine,” said Lee, the former top-ranked women’s amateur and 2012 U.S. Girls Junior Amateur champion.

Lee now moves to 12th in the Rolex Rankings and stands sixth on the LPGA official money list with $416,439. She also entered the record books as only the fifth player in LPGA history to win twice before her 20th birthday.

“[This win] is definitely a big confidence boost,” Lee said. “Last couple of weeks I was there, but not quite there. Now my game seems to be coming together really well.”

Minjee Lee won the Lotte Championship with the following equipment: XXIO8 driver (9.5°) with Miyazaki Kusala Blue 61R shaft; XXIO8 3-wood with Miyazaki Kusala Blue 61R shaft; Srixon Z H45 3-hybrid with Miyazaki Kusala Blue 61R shaft; Srixon Z U45 4-utility iron; Srixon Z 745 irons (5-PW); Cleveland 588 RTX 2.0 Custom wedges (50° / 10°, 54° / 10° and 58° / 6°); and a Srixon Z-STAR golf ball. Lee has used the Z-STAR golf ball since turning professional and always makes sure she is using a ball with a “1” on it.
