A Good Fit: Palmetto Dunes adds the club fitting, building and repair services of Golf Etc. Hilton Head

Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort on Hilton Head Island adds the club fitting, building and repair services of Golf Etc. Hilton Head

(HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C.) — Long renowned for providing everything a golfer needs, the Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort on Hilton Head Island has now added the club fitting, building and repair services of Golf Etc. Hilton Head.

Golf Etc. Hilton Head will be performing fittings for all clubs, driver to putter, at the Palmetto Dunes Robert Trent Jones Course in an outdoor setting that permits full ball flight. Its services also include re-gripping and repair with fast turnaround and delivery. Weekday service is now available from 9 am to 5 pm with every day hours starting in March. Fitting and repair services are available to all resort guests, as well as locals and other visitors to Hilton Head Island.

“We know that a properly fitted golf club drives positive swing changes, increased shot consistency, better ball flight and repeatable distance gains,” said Palmetto Dunes Vice President of Resort Operations Brad Marra. “We are excited to add this new and greatly enhanced club fitting and repair service at Palmetto Dunes. We pride ourselves on providing our golfing guests with nothing but the best.”

Golf Etc. Hilton Head is owned and operated by Chris Wycoff, who was recently named one of Golf Digest magazine’s “Top 100 Club Fitters.”

“The Golf Digest recognition shows the quality and our passion for club fitting and club building,” said Wycoff. “It was an intense application process that identified the best fitters in the United States.”

Golf Etc. Hilton Head’s SwingFit fitting approach includes more than 20,000 total club and shaft combinations, including Titleist, Cobra, Callaway, TaylorMade, Nike, Ping, Mizuno, Edel, Fujikura, Matrix, Aerotec Steelfiber, Nipon, KBS, TrueTemper, Accra, Paderson and others. It uses a data-driven process to improve performance by identifying the ideal combination of club, shaft and build specifications for each golfer.

“Our fitting process is significantly more in depth than a typical ‘get your specs’ fitting at retail, club or demo day,” said Wycoff, who became a Mizuno Top 100 fitter in 2014. “We take the time to find the club set up that looks right, feels good and delivers repeatable improvements in distance, accuracy and consistency. Our passion is helping people play better and more enjoyable golf.”

Wycoff said Tour-caliber club building ensures that the clubs a golfer gets are the exact ones for which they were fit – not mass manufactured, where cost and volume are most important.

“How stock and most custom clubs are built is almost always overlooked,” Wycoff said. “Most golfers have one or two clubs in their bag they hit very well and one or two that they dread pulling out. This is usually because the specifications and tolerances those clubs were built to are not good enough. The tolerances and quality control we use in our builds ensures that every club performs as well as the one you hit during the fitting.”

Another important feature of the new service at Palmetto Dunes: With on-site inventory and a team of skilled builders, many clubs can be delivered within 48 hours.

“When you make the decision to get fitted for a new set of golf clubs, you don’t want to wait weeks before you get to hit them,” said Wycoff. “We have invested in the inventory and on-site build capabilities to deliver custom fit clubs quickly.”
