McDowell wins OHL Classic at Mayakoba

(HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA) – Srixon and Cleveland Golf congratulate staffer Graeme McDowell for his victory at the 2015 OHL Classic at Mayakoba held at El Camaleon Golf Course, in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.  The 36-year-old from Portrush, Northern Ireland, sank an 8-foot putt on the 18th hole of Sunday’s regulation play to close with a final round of 5-under 66 to qualify for Monday’s play-off with overall score of 18-under 266. McDowell sealed the victory over fellow staffer Russell Knox with a birdie on the first hole of today’s play-off, tapping in a three-foot putt following a five iron which grazed the edge of the cup.

“I dreamed of this day coming again,” said McDowell.  “I thought it would be maybe not quite as soon as this, and I said to myself that I was really going to appreciate it.  And I do appreciate it.  This feels really nice.”

The victory was McDowell’s first win dating back to the 2013 French Open, and he was in the final year of his PGA Tour exemption.  McDowell had not finished in the Top 10 in over nine months and he had dropped to No. 85 in the world rankings.

McDowell played with Srixon’s new 4th generation Z STAR XV ball with SpinSkin Technology, a Srixon Z F45 fairway wood (13°), a Srixon Z U45 utility iron (18°), Srixon Z 745 irons (#5-9), and Cleveland Golf 588 RTX 2.0 wedges (48°, 52°, 58°).  McDowell wears a Srixon hat, a Srixon glove, and carries a Srixon bag.
