Linda Hartough Golf Landscapes to Sponsor 2015 Veterans Putting Challenge

(HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C.) – Linda Hartough, world-renowned golf-landscape artist (www.hartough.com), will serve as a sponsor of the 2015 Veterans Putting Challenge, to take place Nov. 9 in conjunction with the VGA (Veterans Golf Association) National Championship being held at Pinehurst Country Club, in Pinehurst, N.C., and the activities to be held on Veterans Day (Nov. 11). Every player and volunteer will receive a box of custom-art note cards depicting Hartough’s paintings of some of the most famous golf courses in the world. Hartough has sponsored the Veterans Putting Challenge since its inception in 2013.

“I am honored to be a sponsor of the Veterans Putting Challenge,” said Hartough. “It is a special event with the important purpose of supporting our veterans.”

Funds raised from the Veterans Putting Challenge will be disbursed solely to the over 1,000 disabled and needy veterans and their families who reside in Moore County, N.C. The event is free and open to the public.

Dr. Edwin Cottrell, of Henderson, N.C., was a founder of the Veterans Putting Challenge. The inaugural event was held in 2013 at Mid Pines Inn and Golf Club in Southern Pines, N.C.

“We are proud that each year the Veterans Putting Challenge continues to support our fine veterans of Moore County,” Dr. Cottrell said. “We greatly respect their service and sacrifice.”

The VGA (www.vgagolf.org) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to promoting the game of golf to veterans and their family members. The VGA develops programs that allow members to compete, socialize and remain physically active through golf.
