OMEGA Ambassadors Rory McIlroy, Sergio Garcia Visit the OMEGA Exhibition at 2015 PGA Championship

(SHEBOYGAN, Wis.) - Top-ranked golfers and OMEGA Ambassadors Rory McIlroy and Sergio Garcia visited with OMEGA at the 2015 PGA Championship on Wednesday.

World No. 1 McIlroy, the defending champion of the PGA Championship, and Garcia, currently 10th on the World Rankings, participated in a special ribbon-cutting ceremony with Raynald Aeschlimann, OMEGA Vice President and International Sales Director, and Member of Swatch Group's extended group management board, to officially open the OMEGA Exhibition at Whistling Straits.

After the ribbon-cutting, McIlroy and Garcia toured the space, which is designed to give visitors the opportunity to learn more about the OMEGA brand and this year highlights OMEGA’s role as Official Timekeeper of the PGA of America and the Olympic Games.

They viewed OMEGA’s Great Olympic Moments in Time exhibit, which features historical timekeeping equipment including the original chronograph used to time the brand’s first Olympic Games in 1932, and helped celebrate the countdown to Rio, where golf will return as an Olympic sport for the first time in over a century and where OMEGA will serve as Official Timekeeper of the Olympic Games for the 27th time.

McIlroy and Garcia then left their “mark” on the OMEGA Exhibition, each autographing their photo wall inside the space, and met with the media.

The 2015 PGA Championship, held Aug. 10-16, marks the 97th edition of one of the most anticipated golf events on the calendar and the season’s final major.  The greatest golfers in the world – including McIlroy, Garcia and their fellow; OMEGA Ambassador Harris English – will compete for the Wanamaker Trophy and the title of PGA Champion. OMEGA, an Official Patron of The PGA of America, is serving as Official Timekeeper of the PGA Championship for the fifth straight year and recently extended its historic partnership with the PGA through 2022.

McIlroy, an OMEGA Ambassador since 2013, won the 2012 PGA Championship in Kiawah Island, S.C. in 2012 and the 2014 PGA Championship at Valhalla in Louisville, K.Y. last year; Garcia, an OMEGA Ambassador since 2003, finished second at the 1999 PGA Championship and has recorded more than 25 professional wins.
