Smylie Kaufman Clinches First Web.com Tour Victory on His Journey to Better

(HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA) – Srixon and Cleveland Golf congratulate staffer Smylie Kaufman on his first Web.com Tour victory at the 2015 United Leasing Championship held at the Victoria National Golf Club, in Newburgh, Indiana.  The 23-year-old former LSU player from Birmingham, Alabama, matched the course record during Saturday’s round by shooting a 64 to take a four-stroke lead into the final round.  Despite two double bogeys on the back nine of Sunday’s final round, Kaufman’s closing round of 1-over 73 allowed him to finish at 10-under 278 for a five stroke margin of victory.

“I’m blown away. Shocked,” said Kaufman.  “I still can’t comprehend it all, but I’m so excited about getting this win.  It wasn’t perfect. I just stayed composed and believed in what I was doing.”

"Smylie is a winner, a worker, doesn't settle for anything beneath his standards,” said Mike Dunphy, Player Development Manager for Srixon / Cleveland Golf / XXIO – U.S.A. “When he switched to the Srixon ball after his collegiate days were over, our group pretty much knew what the results would be. We are pleased to say he has exceeded them and will continue to do so on his journey to better."

Kaufman’s victory, coming off consecutive fourth-place ties at the Louisiana Open and Mexico Championship, has vaulted him from 28th to fourth on the 2015 Web.com Tour money list with a total of $159,535.

Kaufman played with Srixon’s new 4th generation Z STAR ball with SpinSkin Technology, a Cleveland Classic 290 driver (9.0°), a Srixon Z F45 fairway wood (15°), a Cleveland 588® MT #3 iron (18°), Srixon Z 745 irons (#3-#9) and Cleveland Golf 588 RTX wedges (48°, 52°, 58°).  Kaufman wears a Srixon hat, a Srixon glove, and carries a Srixon bag.
