Jordan-esque

Golf fans visiting Hilton Head Island this week for the RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing can attempt their best impression of the newest Masters champion at renowned Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort

(HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C.) — Freshly minted Masters champ Jordan Spieth brings far more than just his new green jacket to Hilton Head Island for this week’s RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing.

The 21-year-old wunderkind brings his uniquely fearless playing style, accentuated by a right index finger-loose grip — a derivative of the standard overlap and the interlock — as well as the left hand-low grip he employed making countless putts.

All of which allowed Spieth to not only become the first player in 39 years to lead the Masters wire-to-wire, but also late Sunday afternoon hit the 19-under mark, the lowest scoring total ever witnessed at Augusta National.

Of course, Spieth also arrives in Hilton Head sporting his equally impressive fashion style, which has almost overnight transformed Under Armour into a hugely popular golf-clothing brand.

Fans visiting the island for this week’s popular PGA Tour event can do their best to model all of Spieth’s style at Hilton Head’s renowned Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort, one of the premier golfing destinations in the Southeast.

They can emulate Spieth’s playing style by scheduling a visit to the Palmetto Dunes Golf Academy, a leader in providing quality golf lessons, clinics, and instruction, which offers a variety of programs for golfers of all ages from a staff of teaching professionals providing hands-on golf instruction with proficiency and patience.

Before taking their games to one of the resort’s trio of superb courses designed by three legends of the game — each layout distinctively different, yet challenging — Palmetto Dunes offers a free golf clinic and demonstration every Monday at 4 PM, as well as a daily golf clinic featuring the stroke of the day at the Robert Trent Jones course. Private lessons are available from an assistant professional, head professionals and the director of instruction.

With a student-instructor ratio of 6:1, the clinic offers nearly individual attention.

All golf instruction is under the direction of former PGA Tour player Doug Weaver, Palmetto Dunes’ highly regarded director of instruction. In addition, golfers may enjoy “The Custom Fitting Experience,” a free swing evaluation and club fitting.

And of course, for those wishing to try and match Spieth’s fashion style on the golf course, the Palmetto Dunes pro shops carry a wide range of the latest Under Armour clothing, as well as the latest available from all the other hottest clothing lines.

Other Heritage-related activities this week at Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort: On Tuesday, Katrek & Maginnes are on tap, with a live broadcast from Robert Trent Jones from 5–7 PM; while on Wednesday the ECCO Tech Van will be at the resort from 10–2 PM, along with PING golf fittings from Noon–4 PM.

Those looking to enjoy some world-class golf, tennis and much more this week at the most family-friendly resort around should try Hilton Head Island’s Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort — and be sure to stay a while.
