Inbee Park Defends Title at Wegman's LPGA Championship

(HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA) – Srixon, XXIO and Cleveland Golf congratulate staffer Inbee Park for winning the 2014 Wegmans LPGA Championship over the weekend at Monroe Golf Club in Pittsford, NY.  Park, the defending champion who won three consecutive majors last year, has now captured the fifth major championship on her ‘Journey to Better.’  Park made three birdies and one bogey in the final round on Sunday to finish the tournament tied at 11-under par for the week.  For the second straight year, Park clinched the title in a playoff, this time with a par on the first extra hole. With this victory, Park is projected to jump from No. 3 to No. 2 in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings, while also moving into the No. 2 spot in the Rolex Player of the Year race.

“I have been playing very good golf the last month or so,” said Park.  "It definitely feels (like) a big honor to actually put my name on the trophy twice and obviously to defend my title.  I’m just very happy to be part of history."

Park currently plays the new Z-STAR with Spin Skin technology, as well as a XXIO 8 driver, XXIO Forged irons (5-PW), Cleveland 588 RTX Black Pearl wedges (47°, 50°) and a Cleveland 588 Precision Forged Black Pearl wedge (58°). Park wears a Srixon glove and carries a Srixon bag.

Park’s victory at the LPGA Championship also marks the end of an era, as the LPGA Tour bids farewell to the Rochester area after 38 years.  The LPGA Tour will join forces next year with the PGA of America to run the Women’s PGA Championship at Westchester Country Club outside New York City.
