Golf Channel’s Big Break holding Auditions at NGA Gateway Tour Seven Lakes event in Pinehurst area

(West End, N.C.) - Producers from the Golf Channel’s hit series the “Big Break” will be onsite at the NGA Gateway Tour Seven Lakes Country Club event in the Pinehurst area on Tuesday, July 15 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., hosting casting tryouts for 2014 NGA Tour Members and Seven Lakes Country Club event participants. The casting will be for the upcoming season and will be held onsite at the Seven Lakes Country Club, a new host site just recently added to the NGA Tour schedule for July 16 through 18.

For the past 25 years, the NGA Gateway Tour has played under the tagline of “Where Tomorrow’s PGA TOUR Champions Are Playing Today!” While the slogan may seem a bit lavish to those unfamiliar with the No. 3 tour in the United States, one look at the list of NGA Gateway Tour alumni who have gone on to win on golf’s premier tour shows the motto is a perfect fit. Major Champions like Bubba Watson, Keegan Bradley, Zach Johnson, Jim Furyk, Stewart Cink, Tom Lehman, John Daly, and David Toms all won on the NGA Gateway Tour before winning at golf’s highest level. In fact NGA Gateway Tour alumni have won an incredible 16 Major Championships.

Recent PGA TOUR winners Scott Stallings, Russell Henley, Chesson Hadley, John Sendon, Matt Every, Brendon Todd, and Kevin Streelman all competed first on the NGA Gateway Tour. Ted Potter Jr and Michael Thompson were actually Players of the Year (2009 and 2010 respectively) on the NGA Gateway Tour before winning the Greenbrier and Honda Classics.

Plenty of NGAers have had success on the Big Break series, but probably the most notable has to be PGA TOUR star Tommy "Two Gloves" Gainey. Gainey, a past NGA Winner, starred in two separate Big Break's and turned his win on “Big Break VII” into a stellar PGA TOUR career.

Producers continue to keep the locations and top prizes secret, but past winners have claimed sponsor exemptions into PGA, Web.com Tour and even European Tour events, as well as cash, endorsement contracts and vehicles.

The audition slate is full and will continue throughout the entire day on the driving range at Seven Lakes. The public is invited to come out to Seven Lakes Club and watch as it's a great way to see one the Golf Channel's top series from "behind the scenes."
