Country Club of Bristol Selects KemperSports

120-year-old club now open for public play

(Bristol, Tenn.) – The Country Club of Bristol in Bristol, Tenn., has selecteded Northbrook. Ill.-based KemperSports for management services. The 120-year-old semi-private club is the oldest in the state and includes a recently-renovated 18-hole golf course. The club, located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, is considered the birthplace of organized golf in the state.

KemperSports will oversee all golf and club operations with a focus on enhancing the member and guest experience at the historic club.

Established in 1894 as a private club, the golf course in its current setting was constructed in 1958 by A.G. McKay and redesigned in 1999, by the Mark McCumber design group. The Club is located 110 miles northeast of Knoxville, Tenn., along the Virginia border.

In addition to golf, the family-friendly club includes both indoor and outdoor tennis courts, outdoor sand volleyball court and basketball/multipurpose court. The Family Fitness Center, which opened in 2008, includes cardio, fitness and cross training equipment as well as an aerobics exercise room.  The Clubs’ junior Olympic-sized pool offers a heated zero edge pool with water slide and lazy river.
