SunRidge Canyon Golf Club Reopens after Renovation

(Fountain Hills, Ariz.) – SunRidge Canyon Golf Club reopened for business October 4 after an ambitious renovation undertaken during the summer to enhance the golf course playing conditions and culinary experience.

“We couldn’t be more pleased with the results of the renovation,” said Kris Starr, director of operations for SunRidge Canyon Golf Club.  “The golf course is basically in perfect condition.  The golfers are certainly raving about it, and our superintendent is very happy with the outcome.  Add that to the new experience at the Wicked Six Bar & Grill by MOD, and we’re definitely starting out the season in full stride.”

During the project, the golf course maintenance team deep-tine aerified the turf twice to reduce sodium buildup in the soil.  As a result, the soil quality improved significantly creating better growing conditions for both the summer and winter grasses.  A new tee box was built on No. 14, all other teeing areas were leveled and new family/junior tee boxes were added to every hole.

A fairway bunker on the 7th hole was reduced in size which widened the fairway by 20 yards.  A few other landing areas were widened such as the par-4 2nd hole and the par-5 3rd hole.  And an ongoing overgrowth-removal project kicked into high gear on the 18-year-old golf course to reestablished original sight lines and allow for a more realistic recovery from desert areas.

The food and beverage operation took a quantum leap as well:  Vivid Lifestyle Concepts and renowned Chef Michael O’Dowd took over the restaurant now known as the Wicked Six Bar & Grill by MOD.  He brought with him the same innovative fare that made his other restaurant, Renegade by MOD, a huge success.  The facility has been completely renovated including a new show kitchen, an outdoor pizza oven, kitchen/bar as well as a Chef’s table and wine room.  The interior redecorating reflects a new upbeat vibe including a brand new menu featuring breakfast lunch and dinner.
