Wilson Staff Advisory Tour Ready for the U.S. Open

(CHICAGO) – Kevin Streelman, Padraig Harrington, Paul Lawrie and Jim Herman form the team of Wilson Staff players at the U.S. Open Championship at Merion Golf Club this week.

Streelman, playing the Wilson Staff FG Tour V2 irons (3-9) and FG Tour TC wedges (48° and 54°), won his first PGA Tour title at the Tampa Bay Championship in March. With a top ten finish and four other top-six finishes in recent events, Streelman enters the U.S. Open in fourth place in the FedExCup standings. He sports the Wilson Staff cap and his Wilson Staff Pro Tour bag.

Harrington’s Wilson Staff FG Tour V2 irons (4-PW), FG Tour TC wedges (50° and 54°) and D100 19° hybrid have directed him to three top-ten finishes on the PGA Tour and two top-tens on the European Tour this season. His tied-for-fourth 2012 U.S. Open finish combined with his experience as a three-time major champion will support his quest for Wilson Staff’s 62nd major.

Lawrie, the1999 Open Championship victor, is the last Scot to win a major. Lawrie’s Wilson Staff Tour bag contains the FG Tour irons (3-PW), FG Tour TC wedges (52° and 60°), FG Tour 19° prototype hybrid and the DXi 22° hybrid.

Returning to the PGA Tour and signing with Wilson Staff, Herman plays the FG Tour V2 irons (4-5), FG62 irons (6-9) and FG Tour TC wedges (48°, 52°, 56° and 60°), while wearing a Wilson Staff cap. Herman qualified for his second appearance at the U.S. Open in last week’s Monday qualifier, where his Wilson Staff irons helped claim 100% greens in regulation during his second round.

To create excitement surrounding the upcoming major at Merion, Wilson Golf is giving away a limited number of U.S. Open inspired D100 iron sets. Matrix Studio 6.1 graphite shafts with American flag accents as well as red Lamkin R.E.L. 3GEN grips were combined with the red and blue D100 club head to reflect this major-inspired design.

“These irons will be used for promotional purposes throughout the week of the U.S. Open to drive consumer excitement and awareness around both the major as well as the Wilson Staff D100 irons,” commented Doug Thiel, Global Director of Marketing. “With only seven sets across the globe available to consumers, we consider them seriously limited.”
