GolfTEC’s Impressive Growth Continues

Opening more centers and hiring more coaches, the world leader in golf improvement is even bigger and better

(Centennial, Colorado) - There’s no stopping GolfTEC.  Hot on the heels of giving its milestone four millionth golf lesson since its founding in 1995, the world leader in golf improvement announces the opening of more than a dozen new teaching centers and the hiring of its 600th coach (and then some).

Since last fall, the start of GolfTEC’s fiscal year, 12 new improvement centers have begun operating throughout the United States, Canada, and Asia.  Another dozen centers have relocated or been remodeled, many adding teaching bays to keep up with the growing demand for instruction from the company already responsible for 25 percent of all private golf lessons in the U.S.

Among the notable new centers:
* The first GolfTEC facility in Korea, located in the Gangnam district of Seoul, opened in January
* The second and third facilities in Japan are opening this spring
* Four centers have opened in Canada (Edmonton, Toronto, Saskatoon, and Beacon Heights, Alberta)
* The first GolfTEC center opens its doors in golf-centric Myrtle Beach, S.C., opens at the end of May

This year 13 new improvement centers are scheduled to open, including those in the coming months in greater Los Angeles area, Seattle, Las Vegas and Winnipeg, as well as in Japan and Korea.

Another indication of GolfTEC’s sustained growth is the announcement, by COO Mike Clinton, that the company has hired its 600th Certified Personal Coach.  In the past month, three groups of new hires have come to GolfTEC headquarters in Denver to attend GolfTEC University (GTU), the in-house, comprehensive PGA- accredited training program that all new coaches attend and that provides continuing education both in-person and online throughout their GolfTEC careers.  During this fiscal year, Clinton said, more than 100 certified coaches are to be hired.

Establishing new centers and moving existing centers into bigger and more efficient locations are key elements of GolfTEC’s strategic, multi-year growth program.  By staffing the new centers and meeting the sales growth in existing centers, GolfTEC continues to grow at a time when most of the golf industry is virtually flat, or in decline.

For the fourth straight year, GolfTEC has recorded same-sales store growth and system-wide, has experienced double digit growth in merchandise sales.

“GolfTEC is also proudly taking a lead role in Golf 2.0, the golf industry’s initiative to grow the game,” Clinton said.  “By making the game more fun for players, we’re retaining and engaging them in the game, plus they purchase more golf rounds, equipment and apparel.”
