ABOUT ALTAMED
Mission: To eliminate disparities in health care access and outcomes by providing superior quality health and human services through an integrated world-class delivery system for Latino, multi-ethnic and underserved communities in Southern California.

AltaMed has delivered quality care without exception to the underserved communities of Southern California for more than 40 years and has been designated by the Joint Commission as a Primary Care Medical Home. The largest independent Federally Qualified Community Health Center in the U.S., AltaMed delivers more than 930,000 annual patient visits through its 43 sites in Los Angeles and Orange Counties.

AltaMed serves the entire family with primary medical care, pediatrics, dental clinics and complete senior long-term care services, including senior case management, and the Program of All Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE). AltaMed also provides patients with health education, youth services, disease management programs, specialty HIV/AIDS care and substance abuse treatment.

Despite Orange County’s image, there are nearly 662,000 uninsured patients in the county, many of whom are women and children. Founded in 1969, AltaMed’s Huntington Beach Community Clinic (HBCC) serves as a critical component of Orange County’s healthcare safety net system, providing over 38,000 patient visits annually. HBCC offers access to affordable and high-quality primary care, dental care, breast cancer screening, prenatal & pediatric care, pharmaceutical support, health education, nutrition education, and insurance enrollment assistance.

  1. As I recall, AltaMed supported the Senior Golf program three years ago. I say this with confidence because my elderly parents participated in this program and were very pleased. I have always believed that sport, as well as additional social attention, has a positive effect on the cognitive functions of the brain in adulthood.
