Stallings Tops Titleist Leaderboard at True South

(Fairhaven, MA) – Establishing themselves as some of golf’s brightest young stars, Scott Stallings, Jason Bohn, Billy Horschel and Bud Cauley finished one through four, respectively, on the True Life Classic leaderboard this weekend.

The 27-year old Stallings shot a final round 4-under 68 to capture the event by two shots over fellow Titleist Brand Ambassador Bohn.  Both players fired four consecutive rounds in the 60s, with the champion posting consecutive 64s on Friday and Saturday to take a one shot lead going into Sunday.

Stallings, who made back-to-back birdies on the 70 and 71st holes to separate himself from the field, finished with a 24-under 264 victory total, a tournament record at Annandale, which has played host to the tournament since 1994.  The win marked the second of Stallings' career, with his first coming just over a year ago at The Greenbrier Classic.

Stallings topped a leaderboard loaded with Titleist Brand Ambassadors and golf ball loyalists who occupied the top four positions, and 8 of the 12 who finished among the top 10 and ties.  Pro V1x loyalist, 25-year old Billy Horschel finished solo 3rd, four shots behind Stallings, while Titleist Brand Ambassador, 22-year old Bud Cauley (Pro V1x, 913D2, 910Fd fairway metal, 910H hybrid, MB irons/CB iron, Vokey Design Spin Milled pitching, sand and lob wedges, Scotty Cameron Studio Select Newport putter), was alone in 4th, another shot back.

Titleist Brand Ambassador Will Claxton (Pro V1x, 910D3 driver, 910F fairway metal, MB irons, Vokey Design Spin Milled gap wedge, SM4 lob wedge, Scotty Cameron Kombi putter) was among three players who tied for 5th place, while Josh Teater (Pro V1x, AP2/AP1 irons, Vokey Design SM4 gap, sand and lob wedges, Scotty Cameron Tour Rat prototype putter) was solo 9th.  Ryuji Imada (Pro V1, Cameron Bulls Eye putter) and 27-year old Titleist Brand Ambassador and defending champion Chris Kirk (Pro V1x, 913D3 driver, 906F fairway metals, MB/CB irons, Vokey Design SM4 pitching, sand and lob wedges, Scotty Cameron Newport Tour putter) were among three players who tied for 10th.  Kirk tied for the tournament record at Annandale with a score of 266 last year.

Half of the 24 players who played a Titleist driver in the True South Classic field relied upon new 913 prototype models, including runner-up Bohn (913D3), Cauley (913D2/4th), and Kirk (913D3/T10).

Titleist was the top choice of more players in the True South field of 131 in the golf ball category with 84 (64%), six times the nearest competitor with 14. With Stallings’ win, Titleist players have accumulated 97 golf ball victories across the worldwide professional tours, more than eight times the nearest competitor with 12.

Titleist was also the field favorite in the wedge (104) and putter (54) categories.

Statistically, Stallings finished among the top 20 in five different categories, including Driving Distance (2nd/295.0), Strokes Gained Putting (3rd/1.904), Putts Per Round (T10/26.8), Putts Per Greens in Regulation (11th/1.648) and Greens in Regulation (T20/75%).

Bohn was first in Strokes Gained Putting (2.639) and Putts Per Round (24), and second in Putts Per Greens in Regulation (1.568) relying upon his Scotty Cameron 350 GSS putter.

Stallings becomes the tenth different Titleist Brand Ambassador to win on the 2012 PGA TOUR for a total of 12 full product line victories this year. The tee-through-green success of Titleist players translates into the more wins across every major product category year-to-date, including: Golf Balls (21, Nearest Competitor 4), Drivers (11, Nearest Competitor 5), Fairway Metals (12, Nearest Competitor 8), Hybrids (7, Nearest Competitor 4), Irons (12, Nearest Competitor 5), Wedges (15, Nearest Competitor 5), and Putters (11, Nearest Competitor 6).

With his win at the True South Classic, Stallings joins fellow Titleist full product line ambassadors Steve Stricker (Hyundai Tournament of Champions), Kyle Stanley (Waste Management Phoenix Open), Bill Haas (Northern Trust Open), Rory McIlroy (Honda Classic), Ben Curtis (Valero Texas Open), Jason Dufner (Zurich Classic, Byron Nelson Championship), Zach Johnson (Crowne Plaza Invitational, John Deere Classic), Webb Simpson (U.S. Open) and Marc Leishman (Travelers Championship) in the Titleist Winners' Circle.

EUROPEAN:  Titleist Brand Ambassador Adam Scott (Pro V1, 910D3, 910Fd, MB irons, CB 2-iron, Vokey Design SM4 pitching wedge, TVD sand and lob wedges, Scotty Cameron Kombi Long putter) posted a runner-up finish at the Open Championship, one shot shy of forcing a playoff.

Titleist Pro V1 golf ball loyalist and World No. 1 Luke Donald tied for 5th place.

Titleist golf ball loyalists accounted for 86 players in the 156-player British Open field, more than four times the nearest competitor with 19.  Titleist was also the top choice in irons (33) and wedges (123).
