KemperSports Properties Recognized for Sound Environmental Practices by LINKS Magazine

Chambers Bay, Bandon Dunes Golf Resort and Old Corkscrew Golf Club among the list of
most eco-friendly golf courses in the U.S.

(NORTHBROOK, Ill.) – KemperSports proudly announces that three of its managed properties have been recognized by LINKS Magazine and named to the list of 10 Most Eco-Friendly Courses in the U.S., as published in the Winter 2012 issue. This list of golf courses features Chambers Bay in University Place, Wash., No. 2, Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Bandon, Ore., No. 8, and Old Corkscrew Golf Club in Estero, Fla., No. 9.

“We are incredibly proud of this recognition from LINKS Magazine,” said Steve Skinner, chief executive officer of KemperSports. “As a company, we strive to operate all of our properties in an environmentally sensitive manner and enhance the communities in which we operate.”

In 2009, KemperSports launched a company-wide environmental initiative called Green to a Tee in order to expand and formalize the company’s practices in environmentally sound property management. This program was built on the company’s 30-year history of environmental responsibility. Green to a Tee encompasses positive environmental practices within several core areas of facility operations including golf course maintenance, habitat management, water conservation, energy usage, green vendor utilization, recycling and staff education and training.

In addition, all three KemperSports properties named to LINKS Magazine’s list of 10 Most Eco-Friendly Courses in the U.S. have been identified as Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuaries. Chambers Bay, host of the 2015 U.S. Open, and Old Corkscrew Golf Club have been further classified as Audubon International Certified Silver Signature Sanctuaries. Chambers Bay is the only golf course in the Northwest to receive this distinction from Audubon International. The Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses is an award winning education and certification program for golf courses to help protect the environment and preserve the natural heritage of the game of golf.
