Mizuno's New MP-R12 Wedge Offers Amazing Grain Flow Forged Feel with Quad Cut Grooves for Unbelievable Spin

New round head shape perfectly compliments successful tear drop design of popular MP-T11 wedges

(Norcross, GA) - Mizuno, a leader in golf technology and innovation, unveiled the MP-R12 wedge featuring a more rounded, player preferred head shape for improved performance. Developed as the perfect complement to the MP-T11 tear drop design, the MP-R12 delivers a slightly larger head with a more round look at address. Mizuno now has a Grain Flow Forged wedge for any player preference.

The MP-R12 wedges also feature a CNC milled face along with Mizuno's exclusive QUAD CUT GROOVE technology, which enables Mizuno to precisely control the width, depth, draft angle and shoulder radius of each groove to deliver maximum spin control and ball stopping ability in all playing conditions. Combined with a True Temper DG Spinner shaft for enhanced spin and controlled trajectory, the MP-R12 wedges deliver supreme ball stopping power. Mizuno's MP-R12 wedges were specifically engineered for maximum execution, evident by the clubs' different grooves. Lofts 50-54 were created with narrower and deeper grooves, best suited for full shot spin, while lofts 56-64 have a wider and shallower groove, appropriate for partial shot spin.

"The new MP-R12 wedges were designed with precision and accuracy in mind while also incorporating a round head shape to make the club look great at address," said Dick Lyons, Vice President and General Manager of the Golf Division, Mizuno USA. "Our MP-T11 line has been one of our most popular lines of wedges ever released, and we look to build on that success with the MP R-12."

Mizuno integrated loft specific sole geometry into the design of the MP-R12 wedges to maximize the effectiveness of the clubs for full shots while promoting clean contact with the ball for every wedge. The two MP-R12 lob wedges feature an aggressive M-Grind for maximum shot versatility. This grind is especially beneficial in tall rough and tight lies. Lofts ranging from 54 to 58 degrees were created with a modified C-Grind, providing generous toe relief while maintaining bounce for shots from the sand. Finally, the 50 and 52 degree MP-R12 wedges were engineered with triple cut sole design that is well suited for all shots. Mizuno is the first manufacturer to offer wedges with different grooves in one line, creating superior performance in each loft category. The grooves in the 50 to 54 degree MP-R12 feature a deeper, narrower groove for more control on full shots, while the groove in the 56 to 64 degree utilize a wider, shallower groove for extra spin on short shots.

The Patented Grain Flow Forged 1025E "Pure Select" mild carbon steel that makes up Mizuno's new wedges delivers the ultimate in soft, solid and consistent feel. The MP-R12s are offered in two exotic finishes - ultra durable, glare resistant satin chrome and max glare resistant durable black nickel.
