Hunting Creek CC to Host Women's Southern Golf Association's Amateur/Mid-Amateur Championship

(Prospect, Kentucky) – Hunting Creek Country Club, located just outside of Louisville in historic Prospect, Kentucky, will host the Women’s Southern Golf Association’s 106th Amateur Championship and 7th Mid-Amateur Championship June 6 - 9, 2022. The Amateur and Mid-Amateur field will consist of 96 players competing in an 18-hole stroke-play qualifying round, followed by two rounds of flighted match play.

Celebrating its 106th anniversary in 2022, the Women’s Southern Golf Association’s (WSGA) first Amateur Championship was held in May of 1911 in Atlanta, Georgia. Maddison Hinson-Tolchard, a sophomore at Oklahoma State University from Perth, Australia, is the defending Amateur Champion. 

Entry into the WSGA’s Amateur/Mid-Amateur Championships is open to female amateur golfers who have a WHS Handicap Index not exceeding 6.0 for the Amateur and 18.4 for Mid-Amateur and who are members of the WSGA through a WSGA member golf club, women’s golf organization, or a college/university in one of the fifteen southern states or the District of Columbia. Players under the age 25 (as of June 6, 2022) will compete in the Amateur Championship, while golfers 25 and above (as of June 6, 2022) can compete in either the Amateur or the Mid-Amateur Championship.
