Bernhard Langer Commits to Play ClubCorp Classic

World Golf Hall of Fame member headlines field of 78 PGA TOUR Champions professionals; 50 Sports/Entertainment Stars in Celebrity Division, April 19-24

(IRVING, Texas) – Bernhard Langer, one of the most dominant players in PGA TOUR Champions history with 43 victories, has signed-on for the inaugural ClubCorp Classic presented by Choctaw Casinos & Resorts to be held April 19-24 at Las Colinas Country Club in Irving, Texas. www.ClubCorpClassic.com.

The two-time Masters champion headlines a stellar field of 78 Champions Tour professionals that will compete alongside 50 sports and entertainment celebrities. The ClubCorp Classic will broadcast live all three rounds on GOLF Channel, the exclusive cable-television partner of PGA TOUR Champions.

Stars from the professional ranks joining Langer include fellow World Golf Hall of Fame member Vijay Singh, who owns three major championship titles including the 2000 Masters; John Daly, a two-time major champion; Mark Calcavecchia, a 13-time winner on TOUR including the 1989 Open Championship and Colin Montgomerie, one of the top European players in history with a record eight European Tour Order of Merit titles, including a streak of seven consecutively and 42 worldwide victories. The current top-three Charles Schwab Cup money leaders are also in the field, Miguel Angel Jimenez, Retief Goosen and Steven Alker.

During a remarkable run in his post-age-50 career, Langer, 64, has established himself as an iron man, and perhaps the greatest senior golfer since the senior circuit was established in the early ‘80s, consistently wining through the years. The German native is just two victories shy of Hale Irwin’s record of 45 wins, with his latest victory coming in February at the Chubb Classic in Naples, Florida. Irwin won three tournaments after turning 60, Langer has won ten and counting. Langer is the oldest player to make the cut at the Masters, having played the weekend at Augusta National Golf Club three times since turning 60.

On the celebrity side of the tournament, prominent personalities include longtime Cowboys favorites Tony Romo, Emmitt Smith and DeMarcus Ware, as well as Hall of Famers Pudge Rodriguez of Texas Rangers fame, area resident and NFL star receiver Tim Brown. Luminaries also feature 72-time LPGA winner Annika Sorenstam, NBA legend Ray Allen and NFL Hall of Fame linebacker Brian Urlacher. Entertainers include Larry the Cable Guy, Alfonso Ribeiro, and Anthony Anderson.

The tournament will benefit two children’s non-profit organizations, Momentous Institute, and the First Tee Greater Dallas and First Tee Fort Worth.

PGA TOUR Champions professionals will compete in a 54-hole stroke play event with a $2 million purse. Celebrities will play under a Modified Stableford format with a $500,000 purse. Ten amateur ClubCorp members, who will have earned a playing spot via a regional qualifying event, will also have the opportunity to compete alongside TOUR pros and celebrities.

With its status as the leader in the private Golf Club industry, ClubCorp embraces its role as a leading lifestyle company bringing people together through extraordinary experiences, impeccable service and opportunities to build meaningful relationships. The recent re-imagination of Las Colinas Country Club as a premier golf and country club showcases the company's commitment to delivering exceptional experiences across its unmatched portfolio.
