Troon Selected to Manage Eau Claire Golf & Country Club in Altoona, Wisconsin

(Scottsdale, Ariz.)
– Troon, the leader in club management, development, and marketing, is pleased to announce it has been selected to manage Eau Claire Golf & Country Club, a private club in Altoona, Wisconsin. Troon Privé, the private club operating division of Troon, will manage golf and club operations, food & beverage, golf course agronomy, and membership marketing and programming.

Established in 1901, Eau Claire Golf & Country Club features an 18-hole golf course designed by Tom Vardon and Charles Ramsdell. The Vardon/Ramsdell course opened for play in 1929 and had a construction cost of $22,360. In 1966, golf course architect Paul Coates re-routed a portion of the front nine, while holes 10, 11, 12, and 18 were also renovated. Today, the course plays to a par of 71, measures 6,728 yards from the championship tees, and enjoys a longstanding reputation of being one of the finest and most challenging golf courses in the upper Midwest. The course is spread over 250 acres of mature, wooded terrain, including sweeping hillsides and towering white pines. Golf course architect Kevin Norby is currently overseeing a bunker and tee renovation aimed at improving aesthetics, playability and maintenance.

“It took several months of due diligence, but it was clear to me and the rest of the Board that Troon was the best choice to lead the next phase of our Club’s evolution,” said Eau Claire Golf & Country Club Board President Eric Carlson. “We’ve got an excellent golf course and look forward to utilizing Troon’s private club and hospitality expertise to provide exceptional leadership and an enhanced member experience both in the clubhouse and our seasonal amenities.”

In addition to golf, club members enjoy a host of amenities, including a beautifully designed clubhouse that accommodates member dining as well as rooms for meetings or special events, state-of-the-art golf practice areas, a swimming facility with children's pool, three lighted tennis courts, pickleball and a yoga studio. The clubhouse, constructed in 2003, provides spectacular views of the Chippewa Valley.

“We are honored to be chosen by and to be working with the members and Board of Eau Claire Golf & Country Club,” said Troon’s Senior Vice President of Operations Phillip Martin. “The club, golf course and amenities are outstanding. Our Troon Privé team will now establish consistency in service and training, while enhancing member programming and refining the member experience.”

With the addition of Eau Claire Golf & Country Club, Troon, and its affiliated brands, manage eight courses throughout the state of Wisconsin, including three private clubs. As a Troon Privé-managed club, full Eau Claire Golf & Country Club members are automatically enrolled in the Troon Privé Privileges program, which delivers extraordinary golf and lifestyle benefits as well as reciprocal play at other Troon Privé-managed private clubs around the world.
