LPGA Tour’s Volunteers of America Classic Announces Fall Dates for 2022; Returns to The Colony and Golf Clubs at The Tribute in North Dallas

Fort Worth Resident and 2020 Champion Angela Stanford to be Assistant U.S. Solheim Cup Captain This Week in Ohio, Sept. 4-6

(THE COLONY, Texas) – Tournament officials announced today the Volunteers of America Classic on the LPGA Tour will move to the Fall in 2022, taking place Sept. 19-25 and returning to The Colony at Old American Golf Club, part of Golf Clubs at The Tribute. The only official LPGA Tour event in the State of Texas, the Volunteers of America Classic will feature 144 of the world’s best female golfers vying for a share of the $1.5 million purse.

“We’re excited to return to the fall in Texas,” said Volunteers of America President and CEO Mike King. “The VOA Classic will take place during a beautiful time of year in Texas, and the excitement for sports surrounding the football season will create a fun environment for spectators.”

“As the sole LPGA Tour event in Texas, the Volunteers of America Classic has become a must-attend event for golfers and golf fans of all ages over the years, and we look forward to hosting the game’s best players in the Fall of 2022,” said Emily Podzielinski, tournament director for the VOA Classic. “The support from The Colony and Golf Clubs at The Tribute the past few years has been outstanding, and we can’t wait to get starting to plan for the 2022 edition of this great championship.”

A number of local Texans are expected to join the field once again in 2022. The event has crowned a local Texan resident as champion the past three years: Cheyenne Knight (2019), Angela Stanford (2020) and Jin Young Ko (2021).

“Playing in my home state of Texas is something I always cherish and winning the 2020 Volunteers of America Classic is very special to me,” said Fort Worth resident Angela Stanford, who is an assistant captain for the U.S. Solheim Cup Team this week in Ohio. “The support that we receive every year from The Colony, Golf Clubs at The Tribute, and all the fans means so much to me and the LPGA.”

With the momentum continuing to grow from the 2021 event, fans can expect week-long programming to continue to grow and evolve, offering a variety of family-friendly events centered around youth programing, health and wellness, and culinary experiences.
